Interesting....not quite how I imagined it would be, but that is perhaps a good thing.
Vampire Forensics: Uncovering the Origins of an Enduring LegendNarcissus and Goldmund
A fairy tale for the demon Lord
Lol. I'm really enjoying this month's group read - Wheel of the Infinite. Going to bed early to read it."I'll Check it out

Are you liking it?"
Yep, loving it! Great low fantasy novel.
What bothers me is how everyone I meet keeps warning me about that (view spoiler) Um, it's a real crime, it was revealed in the blurb, and has been done before in books fictional and based-on, like (view spoiler) I've read books that feature non-con and monster bestiality (Laymon) so it's odd how people warn me off Deerskin.
Lára wrote: "Narcissus and Goldmund"I so love that book. Probably one that I've reread the most. It's both entertaining and though-provoking! I've liked all I've read from Hesse, he was one of the favorite authors of my formative years.
So many mixed reactions to Deerskin. Maybe I should check for myself.

Why can't I just stay at home and read all day :D

Hesse is one of my favorite writers as well, I love almost all of his books, especially "Siddharta" and "Der Steppenwolf".
I'm reading Royal Assassin by Robin Hobb. I've bought two copies of each of the first two books in this trilogy, which tells you that I am enjoying them. The reason for the second purchase is the tiny print in the first purchases. I can't enjoy reading a book if it's a pain because of the small print. I'm long-sighted, as are a great many other potential readers.Grumble aside, these are beautifully written and very engaging books.
I finished The Dinosaur Lords last night. The world building is great, but the plot and characters fell short. I'm kind of on the fence about continuing the series. My review here https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...Next I'm reading Red Rising. I won it in a Goodreads giveaway, so I've bumped it up my TBR list. However, this edition I got is a promo copy. I don't really know what that means, but it's a mass market paperback, and the cover is kind of ugly, but I can't say no to a free book. Anyway, so far it looks like it's going to be a dark read.
Malice, on UK kindle daily deal. I swear they are just listing my tbr! They've cost me £30 this week at £2 per book.
Hello,I am new to this group. I have finished The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss and Midnight Falcon by David Gemmell. Both were well done. I would have to say I enjoyed the Name of the Wind better but not by much. I am currently reading The Rook and so far have enjoyed it.
Finished with Splatterism: The Disquieting Recollections of a Minotaur Assailant: An Upbuilding Edifying Discourse and Archmage, both nice novels. Currently enjoying Berg's Flesh and Spirit!
Just finished Elantris (review here: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...),now started to read Red Rising since the author has organized a (re)read for it https://www.goodreads.com/group/show/... on Goodreads.
So far Red Rising looks really promising.
I started to read Maailma, vihreä metsä (The Word for World is Forest) by Ursula K. Le Guin. I've had mixed feelings towards her Hainish cycle books as so far I've only liked one of them (The Left Hand of Darkness, book 4) and hated two of them (books 1 and 2 of the series). Let's see of this book tilts the number to balance or just makes it fall more to the negative side.
Finishing up reading The Way of Kings and listening to A Canticle For Leibowitz. Kings is spectacular while Canticle is good but a bit lacking action for my tastes. No idea what to read next off my list of about 20.
HIGHLY recommed Carter & Lovecraft. And am very much enjoying Arcadia thus far(with thanks to NetGalley.)
Comics-wise, I've read ALOT of aweosme stuff this year. What jumps to mind of late is Bitch Planet, Vol 1: Extraordinary Machine, The Empty, Vol. 1, and The Dragon Queen.

Course you might want to start The Aeronaut's Windlass for next month's read.
;)
I'm reading River of Stars this month, only a couple of chapters left. I just adore Guy Gavriel Kay's books.I also read a lot of wuxia novels and a couple of them take place in about the same time frame as this novel and Under Heaven. It's interesting to read different versions of the same historical events.
I finished The Elfstones Of Shannara and I must say I was very impressed. It is actually better than The Sword of Shannara. I can't believe I didn't read this one years ago. Really can't wait for the TV series. I've started Lords of the North by Bernard Cornwell. It's the third in the Saxon Stories series. It's more of a Historical Fiction story but it does have a small amount of magic in them and they are very well written.
Oh, I almost forgot The first book in this series The Last Kingdom has been made into a TV series also on BBC America. It has been really good so far.

Yes, if you can get past "Sword" (which, as has been said before, is a thinly-veiled Tolkien pastiche), then both "Elfstones"and "Wishsong" pick up the pace and the story substanstially.
Just finished The Crippled God, and with it the Malazan Book of the Fallen! Took a while getting there, but the final third of the book was fantastic, very true to the series. Definitely satisfied with how it all wrapped up, which is a worrying prospect approaching the end of a huge 10 book series.

I had the same problem, so I read Hobb on my kindle so I can change the font size.
Not a fantasy novel, but I took a break from fantasy and read some historical fiction - Follow the Riverhttps://www.goodreads.com/book/show/1...
It was a nice break, and I did connect it in some ways to other fantasy fiction I'd read. In this book, they walked FOREVER, sorta like Sword of Shannara (and LotR).
Does that count?
Now, I'm not sure what I'm going to read. I may jump into a Ted Dekker book. I have a few superhero themed books. And I still need to finish the shorts in Unfettered.
