Hey guys,
so firstly I want to apologise for being absent from the group for so long; there have been a lot of personal transitions for me (eventually positive) and recently I have found it really difficult to balance other parts of my life with the group and recreational/ reading time.

For the moment I am still around online, however, I do need help with moderating the group, getting discussion going, providing fun things and so on.

If you feel that you fit this bill and you'd like to be a second or third Moderator, please express your interest here, or let me know!
Love always, Crumpet

Marina (sonnenbarke) Hi Book Crumpet!

I'm very glad to know the transitions you've been through are positive, I wouldn't have liked to see this group die out. I'm a quite new member but I really like the group and the spirit behind it.

That's for this reason I think it would be nice to be a co-moderator of the group. As for a short bio, I'm very interested in mental health as I've been struggling with mental illness for almost half my life now. I'm what you might call a high-funcioning mental patient, but I still have hard times from time to time. If you're interested in my diagnosis and my struggle, I can tell you more in private, for the moment I just don't wish to go all public with it.
English is not my mother tongue but I guess I can say I speak and write it fairly well, mostly because I'm a translator, so I deal with the language daily (oh, and before you ask, no, unfortunatutely I don't translate books, I'm a technical translator).
I'm already moderator (and founder) of a very small and - unfortunately - not really active group on book swapping: https://www.goodreads.com/group/show/...

I love the idea of a mental health bookclub and I would love to see the group spice up a bit. I'll be honest, I don't have any real ideas on how to spice it up as yet, but we can talk about it together and eventually find a way, if you consider my application interesting enough.

Let me know here or PM me anytime!

Marina

Lana | 8 comments I'd also love to be a moderator. I just joined the group, but I too am a high functioning person living with depression. I'm an English and psychology major and have a master's degree in Counseling Psychology, even though most of my work experience has been more social work-oriented. I love reading books that related to mental health as well. Give me a shout if you want to talk further.

Sami | 2 comments I do hope this group doesn't die out! Would be willing to be a moderator if the group needed it, though I'd much rather be a passive participant due to time constraints.

Lana and Marina you seem like you'd be excellent mods :)

My bio: I'm studying a medical degree at the moment. I don't have much personal experience or education with mental health issues except for a few close friends and my patients on placement. My main interest is social work and I joined this group because I feel that an increase in mental health education is needed in multi-ethnic communities such as the one I came from.

Rachel Nottelling | 3 comments So do we have a new moderator yet?

message 6: by Doreen (new)

Doreen Petersen Even though I am a newer member I would like to volunteer myself as a co-moderator. I have the time to devote to the group and hopefully would be able to help it grow and become strong. If you feel I fit I would be happy to do it.
