Janey Farina | 4 comments The book belonged to my grandmother, it was hardcover, (possibly dark blue?) with no dust jacket. The title may have been something like the story's home or the life of a story but I really can't remember.

The book was very interactive, it was told in the second person and narrated by the "story" as a personified being. There was a lot of reference to the fact that it was a book, things like "on page xx, there is xx" or "on the next page there's xx so don't look, just run past it quickly".
It had black and white drawings mixed with text.

I think there was a bit about going to drink lemon-aid, and maybe a bit about going to pick watermelons? I also remember a page where "someone" in the story had done something, (perhaps spilled the lemonaid?) and the text had been printed to make it appear as if it was being washed down to a puddle at the bottom of the paper.

Thank you!

SOLVED! "The Story's Home: Fun-Filled Tales for Very Little People" by Richard A. Clarke, Thank you Holly!!

Emily | 140 comments Do you have a sense of what decade the book is from? Was it your grandmother's book when she was a little girl, and if so, how long ago was that?

Janey Farina | 4 comments Not exactly, I read it probably about 10 years ago and it already seemd quite old at the time. Yellowed and tattered pages, the old style cover and the like. It could have been from when she was a child or it could have been bought for our older cousins, i'm not sure.
I'd guess at least pre-1990 but other than that I don't really know, sorry.

Justanotherbiblophile | 1814 comments This reminds me in style of _The Great Good Thing_, but that is not your book. (and mods, please don't link it, as it's not a suggestion).
