So Halloween is my favorite holiday and I thought I;d make a challenge out of it.

Duration~ October 1~ November 30, 2013

Levels:
Gourd: 1-3 books
Pumpkin: 5-10 books
Jack-O-Lantern: 10-15 books

1. Halloween is thought to be inspired by pagan harvest festivals and festivals of the dead (ie: Samhain), where the souls of the dead were said to revisit their homes. Harmful spirits and fairies were also thought to be active on this night.
Read a book where the MC is some kind of dead creature (zombie, Vamp, ghost, etc)

2. Halloween is also known as All Hallows Eve and is thought to have Celtic influences.
Read a book with a character who is know by a name other than they're real name or read a book set in a Celtic country (Ireland, Scotland, Cornwall in England, Brittany in France, Wales and the Isle of Mann)

3. Depending on how its celebrated, Halloween can be down right terrifying.
So read a book that scares you or has a scary/creepy image on the cover. If you choose the cover option, post it so we can all get scared!

4. Halloween is when all the scary creatures like vampire, witches, ghosts and werewolves come out.
Read a book in the paranormal genre

5. Haunted houses are a big thing during Halloween.
The scarier the better
Read a book that takes place somewhere creepy, like a cemetery, a haunted house, an abandoned aslyum and so on

6. Who doesn't love to dress up? I'm an adult but I love dressing up and have lots of costumes. In parts of Ireland, Scotland, Mann and Wales, people went from house to house in costume (or in disguise) reciting songs in exchange for food.
Read a book with a picture on the cover of a costume you liked to be or with an M.C. who is a costume you'd like to be (ex~ Nurse, zombie, cop, fairy, etc)

7. Kids love to trick or treat and if you're a parent you have to take your kids to get goodies. You never know, you may get some goodies too!
Read a book with candy or chocolate on the cover

8. On Halloween you can see pumpkins and Jack-O-Lanterns Galore! In some cultures Jack-o'-lanterns were carried by guisers on All Hallows' Eve in order to frighten evil spirits.
Read a book with an orange cover

9. Apples (candy apples, caramel apples, taffy apples)are associated with Halloween because Halloween is at the end of the Apple harvest.
Read a book with an apple on the cover or read a book with a red, green or yellow color

10.Halloween has become very popular all over the world and many countries celebrate it.
For this one read a book set in a country that can be found Here. Exclude the countries mentioned in task #2 in this challenge

11. Ghost Telling stories is popular during the Halloween season.
Read a ghost story

12. Some traditional games that used to be played long ago involved divination and fortunetelling.
Read a book with a character who can see the future, has visions, is a psychic or a fortuneteller.

13. Halloween, in most places, is on October 31st. Read a book with a 1,0 or 3 in the total number of pages

14. Among haunted houses, people enjoy Hay rides, Corn mazes and pumpkin picking.
Read a book that takes place on a farm

15. Above all, Halloween is a time for FUN!
Read a book that takes place, at least partly, on Halloween.
