The cover had a tiger barely visible in tall grass. The setting was India or another humid South Asian country. The illustrations were watercolor, really beautiful. An older book...I read it in the mid 90s. For plot, I think the villagers wanted to kill the tiger because they didn't understand it and rangers save it from them, including some use of fireworks.
