Barb Finally finished the first book. Going on vacation didn't actually lead to reading.

Finished The Darkest Minds (The Darkest Minds, #1) by Alexandra Bracken . I bought this in November 2014, and probably shelved it around the same time. Updated post #4

Hoping I can read the rest a little faster.

Hi Jessabeth - Sadly, I don't think we can count rereads for this challenge - since the point is to finish something you'd previously had a hard time finishing or getting around to. But congratulations on doing a reread! I do find them very rewarding (though I'm with you - I seldom do rereads. There's too much new stuff to read!).

Though maybe I'll incorporate re-reads into a future challenge... hmmmm.... ;)

Yay! Good work, Diane! Isn't that a satisfying experience?

No problem, Day! We totally understand that everyone has different situations and we can definitely use the honor system for this. (I mean - sometimes there's something I've owned or planned to read for years, but never bothered to list it. But I still KNOW that it's been years!)

message 57: by Gremlin (new)

Gremlin | 966 comments Everyone should be updated! (But let me know if I've made any mistakes).

Also, I finished my second book for this challenge by reading The Girl from the Well (The Girl from the Well, #1) by Rin Chupeco - which has been on my tbr list for over a year. A good read for the holiday season!

Dee (austhokie) | 345 comments yay, i FINALLY finished a book...lol!

1. UnSouled - option 4 - I bought in 2013 when it was released and tried several times to read, but kept putting it aside, but finally finished it over the weekend

2. Anna Dressed in Blood - option 3 - I got the audiobook during the yasync program back in 2012 and never listened to it -but since it fit into another challenge, seemed like a perfect time - it wasn't quite as scary as I was expecting...but a solid book; the narration was only so-so though

3. UnDivided - option 2/3 (borrowed/reborrowed from the library several times) - I think i might have had a mini-heart attack about halfway thorugh with what the author did; but this book was like night and day to book 3 that I really struggled with - seemed like he refound his writing mojo/series mojo and the conclusion worked for me - i didn't feel like anything was left hanging

4. Fairest - from a series, I haven't read in more than 6mths (read bk 3 in March 2014)...I think this is my favoritest in the series so far - there was something about the Queen and seeing her transition into evil was just muey bueno

5. Throne of Glass - i borrowed this from Scribd back in march /April and finally finished it (it had been on my TBR for a while before that - picked it in december as part of a TBR challenge); not a love triangle fan andthis started to get a bit too ehhh but i liked the idea of the champion contest and female kicking ass - might continue with the series in the future

6. Career of Evil - series continuation - i was really enjoying this entry in the Cormoran Strike series up until about the last 30pgs and then it was like presto whammo mystery solved and i was left feeling kind of empty (and looking back she did this with previous books as well)

Lyzzibug ~Still Breathing~ (lyzzibug) | 197 comments Yay, Dee! I love those books!

message 60: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 345 comments i have undivided from the library right now - technically its been on my to-read for a while - that counts right? haha!

i'm trolling my started not finished shelf to see if anything is catching my eye

Congrats, Dee! (This is a great reminder that I ALSO need to get back to those books! I super loved Unwind).

So real quick - did you say you were doing this challenge earlier?

Oddly, yesterday I went to add a book to Day's list, and realized she wasn't on my original listing, but I found her original joining post (#30) and added her. However, as I was doing that, I saw that I had YOU down as #30 - but couldn't find any original post to grab your number from. So weird! Do you think something got deleted somewhere?

Not a big deal - I can always use #58 :) But i just wonder if you know what happened.

Dee (austhokie) | 345 comments i can't remember if i said i was or not...lol! probably mentally thought abotu it and then never signed up

message 64: by Gremlin (new)

Gremlin | 966 comments Totally possible - but it's still so weird that I had PUT you on the list! (With an incorrect number).

I'm going to assume it was some sort of psychic phenomena! :P

Regardless, glad to have you on board!

Dee (austhokie) | 345 comments Gremlin - can I get your ruling on a book?

UnDivided - I couldn't read it until I finished bk3 (which I had stopped and started several times)...but its been on my GR shelf (to-read-2015) since it was released last year and I've borrowed it from the library several times in an attempt to motivate me to finish up bk3

kosher to count it? (i've only just started it)

Considering that UnDivided came out last year and is part of a series that you started many years back, I'd absolutely say it counts :)

message 70: by Gremlin (new)

Gremlin | 966 comments Also - I'm glad I'm not the only one who has a tendency to borrow and return things to the library multiple times before actually reading something! Haha!

message 71: by Christie (new)

Christie (cereale) Finished my 2nd Game (Jasper Dent, #2) by Barry Lyga the 2nd in a series I started in March 2015. Updated post #9.

Diane | 1234 comments Finished #4 The Curse of the Wendigo (The Monstrumologist, #2) by Rick Yancey I have owned it on kindle over 2 years.

I think I am going to take Melanie's lead and read Hounded (The Iron Druid Chronicles, #1) by Kevin Hearne next - I have had that one forever also. - Thanks for giving me that bump Malanie :)

Day La | 46 comments #30

Just finished my second book for this challenge! I finished Unteachable. I started reading the book a couple months ago but put it down for another book because I lost interest. So glad I finished it cause it was way better than I thought it was!

message 74: by Diane (new)

Diane | 1234 comments That has been on my TBR list too but I have not gotten around to it.

message 75: by Amber (last edited Oct 30, 2015 08:50AM) (new)

Amber (amberm867) Finished #2 : The Thief (The Queen's Thief, #1) by Megan Whalen Turner

I'm counting this as a put-down book, but I also own a copy that's been on my shelf forever and it's been on my Goodread's TBR list for quite a while.

This was really good. I'm so glad this challenge encouraged me to read it.

Updated original post #20.

Updated post #7

message 81: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 345 comments I have 3 books in progress right now - UnDivided (to finish up the series), Anna Dressed in Blood (had the audiobook on the pile since 2012) and Throne of Glass (I borrowed this from scribd in like April and never actually read it...)

message 82: by Barb (new)

Barb Finished #2. (I noticed #1 didn't get added.) Updated post #4.

Origin (Lux, #4) by Jennifer L. Armentrout - I stopped reading the series back in Feb or March.

Question - if I read the last book in the series now, does that count towards the challenge, too?

message 83: by Gremlin (new)

Gremlin | 966 comments Barb wrote: "Question - if I read the last book in the series now, does that count towards the challenge, too?"

It sure would! :)

message 84: by Gremlin (new)

Gremlin | 966 comments Everyone should be updated at this point! But please feel free to check my initial post and make sure that I've got your numbers right (I've been making more errors than normal this round - me thinks that I somehow missed some updates?).

Anyhow - feel free to gently nudge me if you're numbers aren't correct :)

Jennifer | 456 comments Finished books 2 and 3
Midwinterblood by Marcus Sedgwick - TBR list for over 6 months
The Shade of the Moon (Last Survivors, #4) by Susan Beth Pfeffer - Read the first few books in the series several years ago. I think this one is middle grade as well...
Updated post #11

message 86: by Linda (new)

Linda I know this challenge is finish what you started, but I think there is no way for me to finish Red Rising (Red Rising Trilogy, #1) by Pierce Brown . I know a lot of people like this book, but I am finding it so boring. I'm going to switch to Code Name Verity (Code Name Verity, #1) by Elizabeth Wein which has been on my TBR list forever.

message 87: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 345 comments book 2 down ;)

1. UnSouled - option 4 - I bought in 2013 when it was released and tried several times to read, but kept putting it aside, but finally finished it over the weekend

Casey Anderson | 637 comments Finished my 4th, updated post 17. From a series I haven't read lately:
The Scorch Trials (The Maze Runner, #2) by James Dashner

now going to finish a series that doesnt' count towards the challenge but i'm excited about. Since I'm doing good here.

message 89: by Melanie, looking for a partner in crime (last edited Nov 08, 2015 04:36AM) (new)

Melanie | 1911 comments Got caught up in a particuarly stressful cycle at work, but I finally finished 2 challenge reads:
Moxyland by Lauren Beukes (on my physical shelf for 3 years) and Flyte (Septimus Heap, #2) by Angie Sage (a series I started but did not finish).
I would read so much more if it weren't for that silly job thing...
Update post #14

message 90: by Diane (new)

Diane | 1234 comments Yeah that silly job thing gets in the way of so much... except paying the bills :) Sometimes when I am at work I wonder how many books I would read if I didn't have to be at work.

You know, Linda, sometimes it's actually okay to recognize that you aren't finishing something simply because you don't like it! There's not enough time in our lives to read all the books that do nothing for us.

And I hope that you love Code Named Verity!

Feel free to keep going - either as a second go-around or just to see how many "finish what you started" books you can read before the end of the year! :)

It definitely illustrates how helpful numbers are! :)

message 100: by Kelly (new)

Kelly (kellyleanna) Another multi-update...
#4 was UnSouled, which has been on my TBR pretty much since I knew this was going to be a series.
#5 was Prodigy. I read the first book in July 2012 (I did re-read Legend to refresh my memory right before starting this one, does that still count?).
#6 was Empire of Shadows, which has been on my library wishlist for about a year, but I guess I didn't add it to Goodreads until I actually checked it out.
Updated post #10.
