Ok, I've finally managed to get hold of a "real" copy here in the uk, so for INDIE pick, my nomination is Android Hunters by Jonathan Bergeron. And READER pick, The War Against the Rull by A E van Vogt
For the Indie Pick:MINDER RISING by Carol Van Natta
Standalone second book in the Central Galactic Concordance series
Minder Rising
Carol Van Natta
~
I'm going to re-nominate my picks from last month - Spots the Space Marine by MCA Hogarth for Indie pick, and Dove Arising by Karen Bao for YA-friendly pick.I'm not sure about Reader Pick yet, I'll have to think about it.
Am I allowed to nominate my own book for the Indie Pick? It just came out last week. If not, I'll still come back with another option and for the other two categories. :)
Christa wrote: "Am I allowed to nominate my own book for the Indie Pick? It just came out last week."Yep! A lot of us do it :)
On that note, I'll nominate Nexus
for indie pick, and I'll second Lost Stars
for YA pick. Annnnnnd let's see...I'll also second Aftermath
for reader pick!
Okay everybody ... thanks for nominating so far. First to answer questions:@ Christa - you -may- nominate your own book, this month, and as many months as you feel like it until you win, in which case a book can not be featured twice. This is the one time a month you get to raise your hand and say "I wrote a book!"
Okay ... some pretty bling :-) And if I missed anybody, holler!
READER PICK:
INDIE PICK:
YOUNG ADULT FRIENDLY PICK:
Thanks for nominating and keep 'em coming!
I nominate Star Wars Aftermath for Reader's Pick, Eomix Galaxy Books: Illusion for Indie Pick and Hunter No More for YA pick. (I think it's YA friendly from the looks of it, but it may want to get checked out first. )
I'd like to nominate Homecoming by Sue Ann Bowling. I think it qualifies as INDIE, I'm not sure whether the micropress is micro enough. I think it's operatic enough ;)
I'd like to nominate The Szuiltan Alliance by Neil Davies for the indie pick. I thought it was rather good and recently noticed the sequel is out.

It's that time of the month where we decide what books we want to read as a group in October. Up this month we have the following categories:
READER PICK: Dead trees is where it's at for our reader pick. Must be widely available in both ebook and paperback at bookstores and public libraries. Can't be KU locked. This is a global community :-)
INDIE PICK: This is for the little guys who have to do everything pretty much themselves. Must be self-published or supported-self published by a micropress.
YOUNG ADULT FRIENDLY PICK: This category is for a book all ages can enjoy. Has to have been published after Y2K 2000 BC, must star a YA protagonist age 13-17, must have a space component of either reaching for the stars or an alien invasion (i.e., no Earth-bound dystopias).
Drop your nominations into the thread below, one vote per category per person, and periodically I'll stop by to post the pretty book cover bling. On October 1st we'll use Random.org to pick a winner in each category.
Be epic!
