Lara (writinglaraferrari) Ferrari | 28 comments Oops. You can tell I'm new to this whole reading as a group thing; I got so caught up in this amazing story that I completely forgot to post my comments for chapters 6-10. And now I don't know where to start... I suppose it's got to be all about the party but there are just so many beautiful, clever, mysterious, heart-wrenching elements to this plot and these characters. Actually, I'm going to contradict myself and focus on the characters instead. Without any teenage cliches, this group of friends is totally believable and relatable - while still being completely unique and fascinating. That's not easy to do! I am in awe of how the author uses the changeling children to mirror the inner pain and uncertainty of the main characters (at least that is what I believe she's doing). I could just ramble on and on but I'd love to know what you guys are all thinking. What storyline has gripped you most? Who's your favourite character? Is there anything you don't like?

Leslie | 8 comments I had every intention of sticking to the 5 chapters at a time, especially because I usually read multiple things at a time, but this book is addicting! I'm envious of the authors ability to create such a complicated and perfect mood throughout the scenes. I'm struggling with Bea, but as mentioned above I think it's just that each character is unique and believable. I struggle with liking people in real life too lol, but I think it's an awesome portrayal of the fact that people have secrets and problems in their private lives.

Kate (infinitelynovel) I find myself reluctant to put The Accident Season down now. While reading I've had this strange, kind of surreal feeling: I put this down to the writing. What an artist Fowley-Doyle is! The storyline is full of mystery but then the characters are so realistic, so it all balances out.

Chapter 11 showed me the true nature of Nick's character. Haha, I totally take back what I said in the chapter 6-10 thread now. Even the most beautiful have dark secrets.

The party scene didn't disappoint. It was creepy, and I loved the way it flowed: it was like a true party. I do think there are times the characters all act a lot older than they are supposed to be - more like college/university students - but I don't think that's necessarily a bad thing. Also, what is it about forbidden love which makes it so attractive to read about?

Think I'm going to have to finish reading tonight. Chapter 15 ended on a bit of a cliffhanger...!

Leslie | 8 comments I totally agree about the writing style, it puts me in the story so easily. I especially loved the surrealism of the party and the way that the events were told through a drunken Cara's perspective. it gave enough, but also left enough confusion that I couldn't stop reading.

Cherry (_forevermint) (_forevermint) | 35 comments I definitely agree with all of you about the party! It was amazingly written, it felt like I was dreaming haha. I was expecting the house to fall apart at some point but luckily it withstood all those teenagers.

Nick is something else lol. I hope Alice is done with him for good.

And chapter 15! Finally we get to see Elsie and actually talk to her. Still have so many questions about who she is and what happened. This book is getting so hard to put down!

I think Cara is my favorite character so far, I just love her crazy imagination and how she perceives things. But all the other characters are also interesting and fun to read about.

Sandra (gotathingforthings) | 26 comments I'm so confused right now and that cliffhanger at the end of chapter 15!! I totally agree with you all: the party scene was so amazing!

Cara and Alice? Wowowow. :))

Did you all notice that these chapters were also a lot longer than the last ones? It is not a bad thing! But do you guys think it was done on purpose?

I don't know how I feel to be honest or how my thought are right now. As I said I'm just SO confused on what that is going on. I don't even know which questions I'm asking anymore. I just need to finish it and see, I guess.

R.A. I feel a little discombobulated right now. That was a lot of information in a few short chapters.
The party scene was crazy, so much revealed in such an awesome way. Took the characters to a whole new level too.
The writing is amazing.

Ariel Jensen (craftymanatee) | 6 comments I had a feeling that Nick was bad news. My heart goes out to Alice (and all those who go through something like that). As Alice kept coming home with more and more injuries, I started to sound more like abuse than accidents.

Following the party scene which was amazing, I began to question how reliable of a narrator Cara is. That is, she comes from an artistic background, seems to have a vivid imagination, and (during the party scene at least) is hyped up on alcohol. Those things all combined I wonder how much of what she is seeing is her imagination/ perception and how much is reality. It almost seems like a story that draws you in for being somewhat scary/ mysterious (ghosts and the supernatural) then turns into real world terrors (such as abuse). Though no doubt there is a paranormal aspect to the story that I'm really enjoying.

And that ending to chapter 15! No time, must keep reading :)
