I had heard that this book was a little hard to follow because of the unreliable narrator thing and the hallucinations, but I totally underestimated how involved I need to be in this book to actually understand what's going on. I am definitely enjoying it, don't get me wrong. I just usually read a few books at the same time, and I can't really do that with this one. I am definitely intrigued by the boys that have been introduced so far, and to see what happens with the "mean girl". I am also really enjoying how awesome of a big brother Daniel is! Chapter 46: (view spoiler)[OMG! This book is awesome! I can't wait for all the little bits of memory to come back to Mara about her accident and what happened that night. I can't believe how much I can love Noah, while he is just a fictional character in a book lol. I am not a fan of what happened with Jamie, and I hope that's not the end of his story. I am FLOORED about this whole situation with poor little Joseph, and I can't wait to see the resolution of that. And I am totally freaked out by the whole "imagining people dying and they actually die that way" thing. Totally binge-reading the rest of this book! (hide spoiler)]

What was the deal with the dog abuser? Was he dead and she saw his ghost or did her thoughts cause him to die? I think Noah is going to be a hate to love romance trope. Wouldn't hate it but ugh cliche. (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[The earring incident has me very interested. I don't know what her deal is. Why is she hallucinating? Is it powers or what? She can see the dead but also imagines things in her head, I don't know what that means. I liked the glimpse into Noah's life and past. He's just as damaged as Mara. And now they're falling in love so maybe they will heal each other and bring Mara's memory back. I'm kind of not liking that the seeing dead people and hallucination stuff is taking a back seat and the romance is becoming the center of it. Like ok I get it, can you tell us more about Mara? We are getting such small pieces of the last night with her friends. I want more! (hide spoiler)]

The instantly healed arm thing has me thinking that she has powers. And the fact that she's still hallucinating even with the drugs. I want more powers, less romance. Now that she's all pissed off at her Spanish teacher, Anna, and Aiden, I think something is going to happen to them. (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[I knew she was magic! So she can kill people with her mind. What a dark, twisted power to have. And I love that Noah has a healing power and that brought them together. I have to admit that I love them together. I still don't get what happened with her brother. Was he really kidnapped by Lassiter? That whole part was so bizarre to me. Ok, so she killed her boyfriend for attempting to rape her and her friends died too because they were there. Just wow. But now we don't really know if the Jude is dead after all. Does he have powers too? Or is he truly a figment of her imagination? I think he's real, alive, and has powers (hide spoiler)]

I wonder if Mara will dig into her grandmother's life to find out more about her gift. I don't know if this is actually Jude walking around or a shapeshifter of some sort. These books are so eerie and I feel like anything goes. Hard to tell (hide spoiler)]

I think it's connected to the grandmother or the mom. Is Jude actually the grandmother? Like her manifesting a person Mara thinks is a friendly face, but is accidentally taunting her? How did the button on the doll match Noah's charm?? What did the note say? She is dumb for burning the doll. (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[Ok, so I think that Noah's mother also had abilities and somehow him wearing the charm with Mara's posession of the doll "woke" it up. They definitely inherited their abilities. I think he'll come back in the next book. WTF tho?? So they're all prisoners? I knew that Phoebe girl was trouble too. Can't wait for book 3!! (hide spoiler)]

Chapter 39 (view spoiler)[ So normally Mara's hallucinations kind of make sense because she's the only one that can see them... but EVERYONE saw her burn, how is it just completely healed?! (view spoiler)[Woah, so much violence in the first few chapters. Mara killing Kells early on threw me for a loop. I thought Kells was going to be he villian of the book. Guess that's out the window now. I think Noah is alive. But idk what's up with Jude. He tried to kill her and her brother, but now he's on her side? I don't trust him at all. Mara, Jamie, and Stella manage to escape off the island, but this truck driver is kind of shady. Is Mara going to kill him too? If I were in their shoes, I would just call my parents and worry about the consequences later lol (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[This book is so fast and straightforward compared to its elusive predecessors. I'm digging it though. I'm still trying to understand everything that is going on. I think Jude is Claire's real killer. He's a terrible guy, I don't know how Mara went out with him. Still trying to work out the "before" chapters. I think the professor is Abel. Still don't know if he's good or bad. This woman that he's with is Mara's grandma? And they are fighting to suppress her power? What's so bad about having a power? And where tf is Noah? I'm waiting for him to pop out (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[Wow, what an ending. It was everything I wanted and so satisfying. I'm glad everything was explained, including the suicide of Mara's grandmother, the burned note, the doll. And how things from all the books got tied together. So interesting. Of course, I love Noah and Mara together and was so happy when they had sex. I'm glad they were all like "f everybody we're staying together no matter what." I'm so happy with how it ended. (hide spoiler)]

Book 1.

Up to chapter 14. So far I’m really enjoying this book and the spookiness of it. You definitely wonder what’s going on with (view spoiler)[the death predictions/making things happen? (hide spoiler)] so that’s going to get nice and interesting. I like Mara and her personality fits her trauma. You still see compassion though, considering (view spoiler)[ how she helped the dog and how she actually wants to remember what happened that night. (hide spoiler)]

Put to chapter 27. I wonder why (view spoiler)[ Mabel was okay with Mara at first but then so scared of her? And the black cat? Is it the supernatural that seems to surround Mara that’s freaking out the animals? (hide spoiler)] I’m still really enjoying this book. Mara has actual problems other than the normal teenage stuff and it’s refreshing to read.
