You try to pre-order a book, only for Amazon to tell you that you already did.

I'm so glad Amazon tells you when you already bought a book. I have been burned by buying the same book twice more than I care to admit!

This is why before joining this site, I maintained a detailed excel sheet with all my book information (author, rating, series info, etc.) that I would print out, and take with me before going book shopping. I got sick of accidentally buying the same books because of a cover change.
That's a good idea, Pagan. I wish I was that organized. I use Goodreads to catalog my collection, so it's good to check on there if I own a book now.

That was one of the reasons I haven't jumped ship from Goodreads with all the drama, and of course all the great folks on the groups on this site.

And yep, I've done the trying to buy books on amazon kindle that I already have quite a few times! I suppose at least I can tell that I really want to read that book to have come across it and yet again tried to download it lol!
There was an uproar because Goodreads deleted a bunch of people's reviews and shelves because they felt they didn't adhere to their rules, although they didn't tell them in advance or post a sightwide announcement. Quite a few top users left Goodreads over that.

Oh right, thanks Danielle :-) I'm guessing that they probably won't be doing that again then without proper notification lol!

I hate it when I find a book that looks really good, just to find out I already own it. It's a let down.
I guess, it's a great function otherwise I would have multiples copies of a bunch of books and would be so mad at myself for wasting my money.
