Natalia- (view spoiler)[ I feel pity for Natalia and Rose. I can totally empathize with Natalia in how she bore Rose's punishment. I've a younger sister whom I love a lot so I understand this protective nature. Natalia appears brave to me. She could've turned to a zombie if she wanted after all that she faces everyday, but she holds herself together for her sister's sake. (hide spoiler)]

Does anybody feel that the necklace thing was more of a trap than an accident?

No it'll be fine but thanks for the offer, it's more a constant headache that won't go away making it hard to reda. I'll try catch up later today, think i am only a couple of chapters behind.

Those headaches are awful. I suffered a horrible one yesterday. And today, I had a lot of things to catch up on.

Anyway, I'll try and finish chapter-10 before going to bed. I'm keeping a slow pace of 2 chapters a day cuz there's school work and all. So, I think you can easily catch up. :-)

That sounds good. I may not always be able to keep to that. I am about to start a new job of 12hour shifts and by the time I get home i am only gonna have 1hour to myself before I hvae to sleep. But I will catch up on my days off, so just keep going :)

I've read up to chapter-22. There's a question I forgot to ask you. What do you think about Krytal Jones' writing style?

(view spoiler)[ I like that despite being a YA book, Jones didn't increase the romance part in the book. Usually, in YA Books, the romance is so much that it starts to annoy me that the author is diverting from the main subject of the plot.

I don't know why the deaths of some good characters don't have that much of an impact on me. What about you? (hide spoiler)]

Midnight- (view spoiler)[ He was such a sweet person. The only one kind to Snow when no other dwarf was. He didn't deserve to die. (hide spoiler)]

Wormwart- (view spoiler)[ He appeared to be the cruelest character with the exception of the Queen. But, now I realize I got it all wrong. He really does care about Snow. (hide spoiler)]

Also, one other question. Have you read some other fairytale retelling except this? This is my first one and I really want to read more of these, so I'm open to some recommendations.

I haven't read any more yet sorry, been really busy will catch up soon. Ye I quite like the writing style. I love fairytale retellings have read a fair few, I'll have a think and try to remember which ones I enjoyed the best then recommend some.

I like the writing style, too.

Except this, the only fairytale telling I have heard about is the Lunar Chronicles. So, I'm really in a desperate need if recommendations.

recommendations - cinderella- it's a little bit different from usual retellings but worth the read.

it's got a slight reference to sleeping beauty but is a great book in it's own right.

I only thought this okay, dragged a little at times.

it's quite dark and gruesome but was an interesting read.

it wasn't a retelling per-se it was kind of a relative of Cinderella, was interesting all the same. Did drag a little in the middle.

short but an interesting read :)

this was good, long time since I have read it, but it had a really good story from what I can remember.

it was okay, dragged a little for me and too much religion and repetition.

cannot remember much about this, other than it was good. I rated it 4 stars so must have been.

this whole series of short stories is really good, really makes you think. They flip the story we all know on it's head and give it a different perspective.

this was a mix of fairytales really good. I am planning a reread in the next few months, there's a few of us doing a buddy read if you fancy joining.

really good, the film is very different if you have seen it. But this is still worth the read.

I've finished the book.
My rating: 4 stars
It was my first fairytale retelling and I loved it. Normally, I go for something with suspense, mystery and action, but I liked this sweet and simple read, too. The action scenes were a bit graphic and the characters' deaths had little impact on me. Otherwise, the book was a great read. Highly recommended!
