ABANDONED. Little girl who follows fairies into the snow and ends up freezing

This is an old fairy tale about a little girl who sees fairies playing in the snow and wanders after them. It gets colder and darker, and she doesn't realize how far away from home she is until it's too late. She ends up freezing, even though the fairies make an attempt to get her home in time. I would love to remember the name of this story!

This was inside a book of various old fairy tales. I read it years ago, and the book was a second hand book that probably came from a garage sale. I wish I could remember more details, but I think it was aimed at children.
