Hi there, I just joined the group yesterday. I am a Belgian citizen living in Dubai. I had the chance to live and work in several countries across Europe before settling here 5 years ago. I love history, geopolitics and economy. These three subjects are often by definition interrelated. I post on Goodreads regular reviews of books that cover topics of personal interest and that look at these subjects from some original angles. You could have a look at some of my reviews if you are interested in, for instance, Russian history, World War II, geopolitics and international relations in general. Hi! I'm Claire, and I'm a history (and creative writing) major in the US. I'm interested in combining the two a bit more, and I think reading more history books is the way to go with that! Hello - My name is Brendan. I am from Ireland originally and now live in New York. My interest in history is broad based but I do have a particular interest in WWI and WWII - I have read all 6 of the books written by Churchill on WWII and also 'The World Crisis' about WWI. I really enjoy biographies like Team of Rivals and John Adams. Finally, since I work in high tech it is really special when there is a good read which blends science and history - The Making of the Atomic Bomb by Richard Rhodes was one of my favorites.

Hi,My pseudonym here is Zero Janvier, who was a main character in the French musical "Starmania" whose first performances took place on my year of birth. I'm French, I was born in the Champagne region where I spent the 18 first years of my life, before living and working 15 years in Paris. In Summer 2015 I moved on the Atlantic Coast and I live currently in Nantes, where I work as an IT project manager.
I'm both a book-lover and a history-lover, so joining this group after several months of activity on Goodreads seems to me a good step to discover more and more history books and discuss them here.
My main topics of interest in history are : European history in general with a focus on French and German history. My favorite historical eras are Antiquity (Rome and ancient Greece), Middle-Ages, and French Revolution & Empire.

I am a baby boomer living in Moscow, TN about 30 miles east of Memphis. I work for the USDA and read extensively. I enjoy thrillers, mysteries, historical novels, espionage and history of any sort. I mix fiction and non-fiction and try to read books I wouldn't ordinarily read at least 10% of the time. My goal is to read a 100 books every year, a combination of eBooks (Nook and Kindle), audio books, paperbacks and hardbacks.I have read extensively on the American Civil War and Ancient Rome, though I enjoy history from any period.` I also have studied World War II quite a lot. My mother witnessed the surrender of Darmstadt to Patton's troops in 1945 as a teen ager. She grew up in Nazi Germany. My Dad graduated West Point in 1950 and that is probably where my interest in battles comes from. We lived in Libya in the mid 1960's and visited Leptis Magna and Sabratha, some of the best preserved Roman ruins in the Mediterranean. Probably where my interest in ancient history sprang from. I look forward to interesting discussions.

Hello, Everyone -- My name is Mary and I love both nonfiction history and (good) historical fiction. It's hard for me to pick favorite areas, because I can interested in almost any period, but I've spent a lot of time with Renaissance Italy and Italy during WWI (the last is a topic I'm particularly interested in now). I also love Imperial Russia, WWII, Biblical archaeology, and Medieval Europe.I'm very interested in any recommendations for books on Italy during WWI, whether they're in English or Italian. Hello all! My name is Tiffany, and I live in the foothills near Auburn, California. I am the manager of a public history library, so obviously I love history books across almost all genres. In particular, I love the period from roughly 1775-1820 (the long 18th century) in both Europe and the US, especially the French and American revolutions, as well as the rise of Napoleon. In fact, I have always been fascinated by Napoleon and love reading about him. Thanks to my job, I also am interested in books on the gold rush in California. I am really excited to connect with fellow history buffs here!
