Please take a moment to familiarize yourself with the "add book/author" feature when you comment. (There is a link on the top right of the comment box.) It makes things so much easier for people to see your book recommendations, because they can see the cover and the links to the author. And it helps the Goodreads software connect books with groups that talk about them.
When citing a book and/or author, please put the book cover, author's photo and author's link at the very bottom of the post after your text. Because it is on the bottom, it calls the reader's attention to the book/author and increases the readability of your posts.

Hi everyone, I'm Tony, living in London, England. I'm a long-time lurker here on Goodreads and finally decided it was time to get involved!! I've always loved reading and always had an interest in history - but have only recently put the two together and started reading history books! I'm interested in any well written book, although so far have mainly been reading military history (especially WW2).Thanks, Tony

Hello. My name is Kevin Hughlett, and I am from Texas. I am a husband and father of three. I am in my twenty-first year as a teacher, having taught language arts, reading, and social studies. I have also been a baseball and football coach during that time, and served as a school administrator. I am a voracious reader who loves history books of all sort, especially military history. World War I interests me most - the sweeping changes in the world during those four years are mind-blowing. I get picky about my fiction, but love Star Trek novels and Louis L'amour westerns. Outside of reading and teaching, I enjoy golf and woodworking. I am very excited to join this group and the discussions - thanks for having me!

Hello! My namn is Christian and i'm from Sweden. I love history, and especially Russian history. I read whenever I have time. This is the reason I joined this book club.
I joined this group awhile back, yet only had the decency to introduce myself recently.. whoops.Well, salutations! As you can see, my name is Emese. Other than that, I'm an aspiring linguist who plans on going to an Ivy League school. I love reading in general, yet history itself holds a special place with me. What kind of history (might you ask)? Well, while I enjoy World History and Prehistory, I've always been interested in Russian History. That doesn't necessarily mean that I agree with what political leaders have done, both past and present, but I still enjoy reading about Russia.
On another topic, I also take delight in linguistics (no wonder), language learning, philosophy, politics, and physics. I'm generally open for anything, though.

Hello Everyone. My name is Cindy. I joined this group to further explore my love of History and engage in conversations with like minded people where I can grow and learn in my knowledge pursuit! I am a working mother of five boys aged 20- 4 years. I casually participate in a medieval re-enactment hobby in Toronto, ON, Canada. Simply put, I love to read in my down time and am excited to read book recommendations (both fiction and non-fiction) and learn more!
Hello everyone! My name is Conner, I'm 20 years old and I live in Ohio! I have a huge passion for reading and I love almost any book but I'm especially fond of history, so I joined this group in hopes of finding people with similar interests and some great book recommendations, my favorites are American history, medieval, and ancient civilizations, but I'm also interested in all types of history, I look forward to having a great time here!
Hi there! I'm Ashley, a 26 year old bookseller in the Toronto area of Canada. I'm excited to have found this group! History has always been an area of interest of mine in my reading and am looking forward to reading and discussing some new titles with you all. I am open-minded and interested in any time period or location but I have a particular soft spot for Canadian history, WWI, and Cold War history. I can't wait to dive in!One thing I have been itching to read more of lately are militial books that deal more with what it was like on the home front. If anybody has any suggestions for some good reads I'd love to hear them!
Hello Everyone,My name is Amit Nambiar and I am from Delhi, India. I am 25 years old and I have a graduate degree in Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering. I am an working in the Telecom industry and I like to read a lot. My interests include history, well mostly modern history and history of India. The reason I love history is because I feel that we can learn a lot about how our ancestors' decisions have changed our lives in so many good and bad ways and we must learn from their mistakes and make this world a better place for our generations to come. I love to read about men and women who have brought change in the world and I aspire to follow their trail. I care about social issues such as poverty and illiteracy, especially in rural India.
Thanks for welcoming me in the group. I hope to find many like minded people here and get some book recommendations.
Thanks,
Amit Nambiar
Hi everyone! I am Amrit from New Delhi, India. I have delved into history with a genuine thirst for knowledge of what has happened starting from the contemporary era to post world war period going up to the end of cold war. There is a lot of cross-referencing in today's world to these times and I am hardly able to relate. So, I have decided to know as much as I can.
Hello, group. I'm Devin from Bayfield, a small city in one of the most northern points in Wisconsin and in the midst of the Lake Superior snow belt (the lake made famous in Gordon Lightfoot's song "The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald," called "Gitche Gumee" by the Chippewa Indians). I enjoy history and true crime. I do read some novels as well, but, generally, enjoy reading to learn new things.
A warm welcome, Ashley. You have found the place where history lovers gather! I know you will find much here to further pique your interest in history. Here are a couple of your favorite topics to get you started.World War I

Hi everyone! I'm Eric RR Skantze from Sweden, a country very much inspired by Germany (EU) and nazis. My father fought the nazi propaganda and I follow in his footsteps. My opinion is colored by the fact that Internet is disseminating new historical facts like wildfire. I love it. My radio listening has flooded me with paradigm shifts. I'll hope there will be some more time with books but my home page takes a lot of time. I have a bad reputation for harvesting Kindle books. Remember, god history books is the best vaccination against being a sheeple.Take care

It makes things so much easier for people to see your book recommendations, because they can see the cover and the links to the author. And it helps the Goodreads software connect books with groups that talk about them.
When citing a book and/or author, please put the book cover, author's photo and author's link at the very bottom of the post after your text. Because it is on the bottom, it calls the reader's attention to the book/author and increases the readability of your posts.

Hi everyone! My name is Patrícia Colombo, I'm 19 years old and I'm Brazilian. I've join the group most because I haven't read much history books during my life. I'm used to science fiction, biographies, and other genres like those, but I want to expand my mind and know more about the history of our world. After all, some say that to understand the present you have to know what happened in the past. I hope that this group will be a great way of meet new books!PS: Sorry if my english is not that good, I'm still learning. If I write anything wrong, please let me know.
Hello, Patrícia. Welcome to the History book club!Based on your introduction, I suggest you check out our homepage and see what we have to offer. You can access the main page through this link:

Welcome Ashley, Amrit, Sara, Devin, Peabody, Kaleen, Eric and Stosch. I hope you'll find many books and discussions to interest you here.
Hi everyone, my name is Stephen! I'm from the Kansas City area, and have had a love for history for quite a while. I graduated from college with a history degree, and love reading books on the subject. I especially like things that discuss obscure parts of history - like wars that people overlook or topics like the Soviet Space Program that was covered up until relatively recently. Anyway, hope to have fun on here :)
