Hi everyone. I am Natalia, currently I'm studying International Relations and since a young age, History has been one of my passions. At this moment, my favorite topics are Middle East (specially the culture), Cold War, Totalitarian States, and Mexican History (mainly the Porfiriato). However, I'm completely open to read any other subject. If anyone could recommend me some books about this topics I would appreciate it. Thanks!
Hello everyone,my name is Jakub. I am rom Czech Republic, my interest are books of any kind, including history books. The main reason why I joined this club is that, on ocasions i have a wish to read something historical related and on those ocasions, there might be a situation, I wouldn´t know a book to grab.
And the "second" reason is that, when I finish a book (of any kind). I like to talk about it with somebody interested in the same topic.

Hello History-lovers,I'm Igor from the Netherlands. I love reading since I could read my first words. Since a year or three my main interest has shifted from Fantasy to History. I started by reading:
Antony BeevorJust because I find World War II to be very interesting, and I remembered the name Stalingrad as being a city of main conflict.
Later I also read this pearl:
Leo TolstoyEver since I am thinking about reading a book about Napoleon Bonaparte. I'm here in the right place for Historical Fictorion too, right? However, I've also bought a DVD-box about WW2, and I'm only ~2/3 in and I've already added more then 20 battles and operations that sparkted my interest lol.
Another thing I'de like to add is that I've started learning German since about a year. The last book I've read is in German about the Halbe-pocket:

Hello Everyone, my name is Stephen and I live in Australia. I enjoy reading about Australian History also Biographies and Auto-Biographies. Currently, I am reading 'Eureka: The Unfinished Revolution' and 'Nancy Wake', by Peter FitzSimmons. I know that these books are a mix of fact and fiction and will probably have purists crying foul, but to me they are a way of bringing history to life and enjoyable to read. Anyway, I look forward to finding many more interesting books to read and sharing thoughts with others in this group.
Hello, I'm a 60 year old grandmother, mother, wife, and aunt. I've been interested in England's history for a few years, and in local history off and on. I'm not a literary critic, nor do I have education in how to talk about a book, I just give my impressions about a book, and see if I can learn from other's posts about the book. I am administrator of a book club in a knitting and crochet online community, we have about 450 members now.
I like to knit for charity, and I volunteer my time and talents to a local anti-abortion clinic, and to our local public library.
I live in America, and have lived in the South all my life, except for a brief period of moving around and traveling. Have been to London, England, for a week, and also spent a few days in Alaska, which I recommend to everyone. I've been to Yellowstone National Park, too, and it's a very strange and awesome experience.
Reading history books, and historical fiction has taught me a lot about society and humans in general. The more I read history, the less upset I get about news "flashes", and breaking news. Ha ha!
I have 2 little dogs, Teddy and Toby. One is a Chihuahua, one is a Pomeranian-Chi mix. I love taking photos of nature, observing nature, walking in the woods on chilly days, knitting, reading, and reading my KJ bible.

Hi Sergio. I'm new, too. One of my relatives was an EMT in the Air Force, and one of my daughters is an RN. I'll bet you have plenty of interesting stories to tell about your work!

I have relatives in Texas, in Midland, near Odessa. I've been to Midland a couple of times, it's very dry, and lots of prairie dogs and tumbleweeds. I live in the deep South, with lots of lush vegetation, humidity, palm trees, and bugs. We have two grapefruit trees in our back yard, a lemon tree, a loquat tree, and a struggling fig tree.
I've been a reader for a long time, but am trying to find more time to actually READ some of the 300 books on my shelves and in my Kindle. Do you have a Kindle?

Hi everyone, my name is Lexie and I'm from Canada! I've loved historical fiction basically since elementary school; I used to spend hours reading holocaust survivor stories. It wasn't until about a year and a half ago that I started to broaden my reading material! Now I love to read almost all types of history, but my favorites include WW11, roman/renaissance (did I mention I love art and art history?) and ancient greece. I enjoy books that give me the facts, but with an enjoyable fiction component to them :) Anyways, I am really looking forward to being in this group.
Hi,My name is Julie, I'm 43 and I live in Nashville. I have no formal training or education in history. I am a working mom with 3 kids under the age of 5 so I don't have a lot of time to read now. I have always loved reading and was a staunch fiction reader until 2-3 years ago when I suddenly became interested in history and biographies for reasons that I don't really understand. I am now obsessed with non-fiction, mostly history, mostly American 18th-20th century although I am open to pretty much anything. Recent favorites include: Truman and The Great Bridge by David McCullough, The Invention of Nature by Andrea Wulf, The Boys in the Boat by Daniel James Brown and In the Kingdom of Ice by Hampton Sides. I listen to a lot of audiobooks so I'd be particularly interested in recommendations that are good in audio format. Looking forward to expanding my reading horizons with the group.

Hello,My name is Louise. I fancy myself an armchair historian and love all things history. I'm currently reading up on the First World War. I have read The Sleepwalkers: How Europe Went to War in 1914, July Crisis: The World's Descent into War, Summer 1914, and World War I: How Germany Blundered into War, which is a nice easy introductory read. I look forward to lively discussion with the group.
I'm John. I'm from Colorado, and have eclectic interests to say the least. One boss said I'm "easily distracted by...oooohhh shiny" and a friend coined the term "John%" to describe the people researching the same things at the same time for fun. In a single week, that might include cuneiform, medieval cooking and Soviet prototype aircraft that converted from monoplane to biplane in flight for greater lift.I'm working on improving my cooking, darkroom, and calligraphy skills.
Regarding history--there is little pattern to what interests me other than not recent--little beyond 1900 except the history of technology. Culture, philosophy, science, technology, common people, royalty, daily life, war of all periods have piqued my interest at times, with no hint to how long the interest will linger or what subject may be next. The only common thread is that I tend to gravitate to the oddities.

With young kids and a demanding job it has become particularly tough to stay engaged in history and politics as I have in the past but my commute to/from work is my "me time" to stay involved. I look forward to joining a community here to help replace the academic discussion lost when I entered the real world.I am generally interested in all topics but lately have been leaning mostly towards foreign policy (On China by Dr. Kissinger) and Jewish history (Constantine's Sword by James Carroll).
Hello. I am Jennifer, a 63 year old woman from Nashville, TN. I'm an avid reader, and have been as long as I can remember. Even before I learned to read, Saturday meant a trip to the library. I cannot imagine a life without the escape, liberation and education that books have given me. I'm definitely a history buff. I'm pretty eclectic woth my choices, and take off on tangents as the mood hits. Through the year though, I have consistently read books about WWII, American Civil War, and British History. I read many other nonfiction categories. In addition i read most genres of fiction other than fantasy and horror. I especially enjoy well researched historical fiction.

my name is Gerald. I´m from Germany and interested in many different historical topics.
Some special interests I have are Military History, Cold War, the history of totalitarism, Mexican history (I´ve lived there for a while) and the transition period from late antiquity to early Middle-Ages (espcially the Frankish expansion).
