Was Anyone Else Upset That George's Reaction To Fred's Death Wasn't Shown?

Cecily I love George and Fred and their relationship, but in the Deathly Hallows, when George was just seen as, "kneeling by Fred's head," I got angry. I finished this book in early March, but (obviously) the frustration is still there.

Najma Exactly!! i really wanted that part. There was nothing about it, they didn't even show the part where he named his son Fred later

inaword Well the book is technically told from Harry's point of view (third person limited, I think it's called) so if Harry doesn't see the reaction, neither do we.

Eleni Nothing to stop you writing it yourself :)

Rachel Pudsey I really wanted him to come back as a ghost and continue running the joke shop with his brother!

Ruby I didn't really notice that he didn't react in the book- I he was is in such shock and misery that he couldn't do anything else. I didn't think Fred should return as a ghost, but I did think it would be nice if George had married that Valerie girl who helped them run the jokeshop (not in the movie). It seems a lot more natural than having him marry Angelina, whose only connection to him was the Quidditch team, being in Gryffindor, and dancing with his brother at the Yule Ball.

I know! Even if it is third person from Harry's, I think we would know if George and Angelina had something going on.

You think? Harry wasn't that clued up when it came to relationships ;)

Besides, they wouldn't have got married until years after the end of the story. (Though obviously before the epilogue.) There was plenty of time for a relationship to develop then even if there wasn't anything going on at school. They were in the same year at school by the way so they would have had most of their classes together as well as being on the Quidditch team.

Megan I was angry and upset that it wasn't shown! Fred and George were my favorite characters, and I wanted to know how George felt, and when it wasn't there, I was SO frustrated. George's feelings really matter because his twin, his best friend, had just died! So I was pretty mad that it wasn't there.

Laura DH is written in third person limited. If Harry doesn't see it, then we don't see it. No fluctuations (unless if you're going to break the rules of grammar).

Rachel wrote: "I really wanted him to come back as a ghost and continue running the joke shop with his brother!"

Ghosts only come back when they have unfinished business from their live form. I'd say that Fred was pretty satisfied with his pranks, but since 'unfinished business' is so vague, literally anyone could come back as a ghost.

I was thoroughly... inflamed (lol that's a fun word; I was pissed), but as a fellow writer, maybe she felt that nothing she wrote would be able to do the scene justice. I mean, they were attached at the hip, partners-in-crime, two peas in a pod, types of tight-knit. I've omitted scenes in my stories before for that particular reason.
