SOLVED. YA series, Boy and Girl wizard go into the ocean to perform an ancient ritual [s]

The book was in the middle of a series about two 20th century kids, a boy and a girl, finding a guild of wizards and joining it. The book itself was about the two going on vacation with the girl's family to a beach house. That night they are contacted by dolphins and are asked to journey into the sea to help perform a ritual to keep an ancient evil confined to a heat vent in the ocean floor. They agree and set off, later finding out one of them is expected to be sacrificed during the ritual. In the end an older shark makes the sacrfice instead. Have you ever heard this story?
