So far I'm really enjoying it. I like the style, how it shows her mental struggle and deterioration. My heart does ache for her - I feel very sorry for Juliette because she's such a nice person who's been treated horribly.
Not a big fan of dystopian stories, but I'm curious to see where this is going. (hide spoiler)]

I did enjoy the story more before the romance started. I mean I'm really curious to find out why she has no effect on Adam, but it's all a bit sudden - especially the plan to escape.
And Warner is intriguing - I feel like he's actually part of the rebellion (maybe that's why he shot that guy for 'treason' without any torture/questioning or protest/denial on his part?). I haven't seen any actual spoilers about him, but I know a lot of people love him, so I guess that's influencing my opinion. (hide spoiler)]

Chapter 40 - (view spoiler)[James is so cute! I hope he'll be ok.
I have to say, I was rather suspicious about Adam, but now I really don't think he's pretending.
Anyway, it's strange how it's so fast paced in a way and I'm flying through it, but not much is actually happening? I know this is just the first book in the series, but the questions are piling up!
I had high hopes for Warner, but so far he's disappointing... I just got used to the idea that maybe it's reasonable for Adam to be in love with Juliette, but now Warner too?!

Yes! The writing is awesome, the way she can make you understand so much more than what you’re reading, specially with the scratches.
I admit I was just suffering through every moment Warner was there.
That was the part where Adam leaves James with Kenji so they don’t get caught, I suffered so much! I was sure something would happen with my babies.
I get the X-Men vibes but I had a The Hunger Games vibe through the whole book idk why.

I am in love with Mafi’s writing style. There’s so much imagery and figurative language. And the way she describes nature and gives it life is amazing! I know some people don’t like the stoke outs but I love them.

Poor Juliette. Everyone treats her like trash for being born the way she was. I don’t like Warner at all and I don’t know how people like him. Maybe he has a huge character development. Idk. I like Adam so far. He seems to actually care about Juliette but he can’t show it.
