I'm only at chapter 2 so far. I haven't had as much time to read as I'd hoped, but it doesn't help that I'm kind of bummed by how Allie is behaving. (view spoiler)[I can't believe she got an innocent girl killed and she didn't even care :( P.S. How creepy was that scene with all if the people hanging upside down from the tree?!? (hide spoiler)]

Crap. I was hoping she would turn around soon. I don't want to deal with her like this through the whole book :(

She's not like it for the entire book, but she does struggle. She's better after the half-way mark I'd say.

I'm at 28% now and she's been back to normal for a while, thank goodness. (view spoiler)[I didn't think we'd see Zeke so soon though. I thought she would find out that he was alive at the end of this book. I have no idea what's going to happen next, except a trip to Eden. (hide spoiler)]

at the end of the second book (view spoiler)[ Allie and co. listen to a recording of Sarren killing Zeke, and believe him dead. We then find out that Sarren has Zeke in the back of his van, and its left to us to wonder if he's alive or dead, or whether or not he's going to turn.

With regard to Allie and her bloodlust, she's not out of the woods yet! (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[ I think it's a coping mechanism. He probably does enjoy killing people, but I think a lot of it is about peer pressure, and trying to stay in control. He doesn't like anyone else deciding his future for him, but he's happy to help when it's his idea. (hide spoiler)]

I think i'm gonna finish this tonight .. I finished Part 2 last night and I liked it even tho it kind of dragged (view spoiler)[and with that i expected a twist to happen.. that is yaaaaaaaaay Ezke is alive but a vampire.. total shocker.. not! I wish she didn't make him alive, him and Allison together = less kickass, more sappyness.. but I like his internal struggle with this vampire thing.. Jackal's speech to him and Allison was hilarious.. Thank you Jackal <<<33333

I like the little developement with Jackal.. Kanin is still expressionless or had that hint of a smirk *sigh* why do I feel like a disappointment is coming? *shudders* (hide spoiler)]

Waves of raiders and rabids later Allison arrives at the lab where she first met Jackal. And there she finds Zeke? But now he's a vampire with no memory of her other than he was turned by Sarren... the psychopath! (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[Allison was practically lifeless (no pun intended) because Zeke was 'killed' by Sarren. And when they're finally together it did get a bit sappy. Jackal provided much necessary comic relief.

I can't give this 5 stars though because it wasn't as gripping as the 2nd book and even though it was in first person there was always some strange third person sentences - The master vampire, the impaled boy etc. Even though Allison knows them personally.

Kanin was always so formal and a bit of a boring character to be honest. But I guess that's what makes him mysterious (hide spoiler)]

But I also like the ending, makes you wonder about the possibilities ahead of the two.. and how was that new disease twist? I couldn't imagine something more frightening..
