The antagonist is also the main character. I appreciate how this story explores the importance of the thoughts we allow.

From a Christian standpoint, I would say that the antagonist is satan, the father of the evil in all of us. The main character's problems all stem from his not taking all thoughts captive to make them obedient to Christ.
