He did close it, since he came by Sookie's place to say goodbye... where he said "The vampire is not a bad man, and he loves you"... then says good-bye, kiss Sookie on the cheek and Jason on the forehead... and he was gone before Sookie could ask Niall which vampire he was referring to...
So yes the portal is closed!
