Katherine Quast | 5 comments I remember reading this in sixth grade (2010) but it was published before then. It was about a girl (who lives in England) who's Aunt had just died and she has to move out into the country side to live with her uncle. She has to stay with her uncle and two boy cousins, one who has a bust leg due to a fox-hunting accident, and one who is a great (but harsh) horse back rider/ Fox hunter. While living there she begins to ride horses and such and slowly falls in love with a stable hand. Other stuff happens and then the stable hand goes to war. She ends up taking off to go travel with her cousin with the bust leg.

Thank you to anyone in advance if they can help me find this book! It was really great, and I want to get one of my friends to read it!

Nathalia | 64 comments I remember something like this, but I forgot the name.

Which war was it set in? Was it a contemporary story or a historical novel? Was it a newly published book or older? Was it set in England?

Emily | 140 comments This is definitely Flambards. Great book. There was also an excellent mini-series in the early 1980s.

Katherine Quast | 5 comments Its not the Flambard series, the girl was in her teens (sorry, should have mentioned that) and I believe it was in WW1

Valerie (veegood) | 248 comments Are you positive it's not Flambards? Every detail in your original post matches. I never saw the mini-series so I don't know how closely it followed the books. The girl in Flambards (Christina) is 12 or 13 at the beginning, and I think 16 or 17 at the end. It is set in the golden days just before WWI. The second book The Edge of the Cloud goes up to the beginning of the war.

Katherine Quast | 5 comments Sorry, you guys were right, I googled the synopsis and it was right. Sorry to disagree and make a big fuss. Thank you so much! :)

Janet | 80 comments Is the boy with the busted leg interested in flying airplanes? In the Flambards series Will is afraid of riding but dreams of flying, and ends up doing so. In the sequel he flies planes during WWI.

Valerie (veegood) | 248 comments I'm glad it was the right book, otherwise someone owed KM Peyton some royalties! The trilogy is one of my all-time favourites, although I've never read the fourth book, Flambards Divided.
