When did you read this? Any idea what year approximately this event would have happened? It was definitely a book (not a magazine story e.g.)? Did this happen in the U.S., or some other country?

Alison | 6 comments Thank you--yes it was definitely a book...I read it about three years ago. Mother traveled US and spoke at Lehigh valley Hospital in Allentown PA which isn't far from me so that stuck out...I believe she spoke in Washington DC as well trying to reform healthcare system and advocate for families. Mother helped develop small notebook to be given to patients to document things while in hospital so family can speak to providers more easily about care questions

Alison | 6 comments Family may have been from New England states--mother tried to stop nurse from giving injection but nurse insisted it was on doctors order--I searched for story online but to no avail

Railyn (funky-rat) | 243 comments I'm going to have to add that to my list. My husband was born at Allentown Osteopathic Hospital (which is now Saint Luke's) and almost died because the doctor assumed he had jaundice and treated him for it without running tests. He didn't have Jaundice, and if not for a quick thinking nurse, would have died. Instead, he spent a month at CHOP in Philly recovering. Scary stuff.
