((incandescense??))

All she could think was that she could not let her hands come off Emmy.

She was shaking, what she wanted more than anything was to take her hands off the cursed Rune. Then again, she knew it was much too late to turn back.

All thoughts were erased from her mind for the time being and the flames soared higher, burning brighter. She didn't let go.

For the first, and hopefully last, time in her life the flames burned where they touched. Leaving a painful outline of the tattoos that marked her for this job. As horribly selfish as it was, Emmy was glad that Salem was with her.

She bit her lip to stop a cry from passing.
Back in the real world, Salem's body trembled.

There couldn't be much of this left. There just couldn't, they had taken half at Salem's birthday. How much more? That was all that she was thinking,
How much more could they take?
How much longer? They all just swirled in her pain fogged head.
Josiah looked down at Salem. He pulled her closer, wishing he could help more. He looked over at Patrik, Josiah was sure his face mirrored Patrik's look.

She was hot to the touch. It was as if the flames were somehow there as well.
The same thought popped into Salem's mind and she contemplated it.

Josiah moved out from under her and layed her down.
"Patrik, wet a few towels."
"Already on it." he replied handing him one.
"Thanks." Josiah placed it on her, like a blanket and then took his spot back.
As if in answer the last energy peices coursed through them. Leaving them both burnt out and exahusted. Emmy's hands slid from the wall and down to her sides.

Emmy followed suit, resting her head on the wall untill she could manage to do otherwise.

Emmy moved to face her,
"Exactly." she nodded slowly.
Her hands were still shaking slightly, like a soft vibration, barely noticeable.
"Thank you," she said to her best friend.

Emmy laughed
"Yeah, it always is with us."
Sarcasam. Even now.

Salem chuckled, her hand going to her chest. She winced, but a smile was soon back on her face. "Oh of course."

Somehow, Emmy was positive she would never know how, she managed to pull herself to her feet. Leaning against teh wall a little she held a hand to Salem
"I wouldn't do that..." Aloysia spoke softly
Emmy almost wanted to fall to the floor again
"Now you come."

Salem glanced in the direction the sound had come from, her vision foggy and her chest aching and burning.

Emmy found it was harder to concentrate on anything. Her body didn't want to hold her up any longer.
Aloysia stepped towards them
"You'll kill eachother if you try to get back."
"So we're stuck here?"
"Did I say that? Getting back requires power. Power that is this room's. You two can't control it yet. I'll send you home, but be careful. Both of you. It's going to take a long time to get to where you were before today." She sounded apologetic
"Mom, what does that mean?"

Salem's body was deathly still.
"Wait, what?" she asked, feeling faint.

Aloysia just looked at her daughter, years of guilt was found there
"Mom. What do you mean?" Emmy repeated again, knowing that she had ignored Salem.
"You both wont be the same," Was all she said that time putting her hand on the girls shoulders
"I'm so very sorry."

Salem couldn't even bring herself to tense under the woman's touch as she found Aloysia's words rang true. Too true.

Emmy just closed her eyes,
"Be careful," She said one last time and then sent them back.
It felt as if someone had slammed her back into her body. Every sense had been intensified, she gasped her back arching slightly. She could feel she was shaking again

Salem whimpered, which was very unlike herself, and she convulsed harshly.
Farrow was silent, watching the girls even as she watched the kids.

Josiah put a hand on her face
"Salem."
Patrik put a cool hand on Emmy's neck, she shied away from it making the smallest exclamation of pain.
Both boys knew instantly that this was going to be so much worse than last time. So much worse

It felt as if his touch was searing her skin and yet she got a small comfort from having him there. Salem wasn't sure whether to cry or to tell him she loved him.

Josiah left his hand there for a second, but her stroked her hair. Murmuring softly.
Patrik looked up at Farrow, as he sat with Emmy's head on his lap. He knew she hurt, there wasn't much he could do.
Emmy bit down on her lip, not stopping untill she tasted the blood.

Salem's eyes opened slowly, painfully, and she looked up at Josiah.

"Hey love." he breathed
Patrik put a cool hand on Emmy's shoulder, she needed to stay within a reasonable temperature. He could already feel her heat through his clothes.
Emmy closed her eyes against it and wimpered as quietly as she possibly could.
"take your hand off of me. Patrik please.."

"Okay. I'll get you a few blankets okay? I'll be right back." He moved away from her.
"You're burning Emmy," he reasoned
"Please, you're making it hurt more," it took everything just to keep her voice normal
"I know. I'm sorry, just one more minute okay?"

"ok, I won't"
Emmy pulled away from him slightly
"It's okay love, I'm done." Patrik whispered
She rested her head on his lap and closed her eyes tightly her hands knotting in the blanket. He stroked her hair, running his fingers gently along her back

She curled into him, willing to face the pain just to have him close. "Thank-you," she murmured.

Josiah pulled another blanket over her
"Your welcome."
Patrik looked back up at Farrow, questions in his eyes.
Emmy willed the darkness to come back, if only to escape the hell that she was in for a little while.

Farrow shook her head. "Not now, Patrik. Later."
Salem shivered and moaned quietly.

"Shh, I know love. I know. Just try to sleep." Josiah breathed
Patrik nodded once and returned his attention to Emmy
"It wasn't this bad last time..." She breathed against his stomach
"It'll get better," Patrik blindly promised

Josiah squeezed her hand softly
Patrik shook his head, knowing that it wasn't going to
"Don't lie Patrik." Emmy almost laughed "You were never good at it."

Salem held his hand tightly even as she began to drift.

Patrik smiled and kissed her hair
"Don't blame me for trying."
Emmy kissed the skin of his stomach
"No, I love you for it." she breathed as her body started shaking noticibly again. Everything hurt suddenly again, two fold. As if punishing her for letting it fade to the backround for a moment.
She cried out softly.

Patrik placed his hand on her neck again
"Emmy, sleep." he told her gently
How could she say that she was trying, but it was hard to get the words out right.

Answering her prayers the darkness reared up and took her again.
Patrik felt her body go slack, and he breathed. His eyes flicked to Farrow again.

"ANything is better than nothing."
Patrik was of the same mind
"Please."
