I have been doing happy dances ever since I heard, though personally I would've preferred Lupita.

Hmmmm...Not who I would have picked to play Misty. I hope she does the character justice that's all I gotta say.

Nothing against Halle Berry since she did the best she could with the material she was given. The real problem was that the writers didn't know or care about Storm's true role as second-in-command of the X-Men (and the only one Wolverine will actually obey without question) in order to make it all about Wolverine.

I didn't like they way they did any of the X-Men female characters made them all kind of soft instead of being true Bad asses.
I felt like all of the female characters got the short end of the stick in the first Brian Singer trilogy ( to say nothing of what they did to Scott/Cyclops). Not only were they only along for the Wolverine show but they were (mostly) miscast. Halle Berry did an ok job but I felt like she got the role because she was the de facto black actress in the early 2000s.I hope Alexandra Shipp (as well as the actresses cast as Jean Grey and Jubilee) gets a better script and does a better job in Apocalypse.
Mstcat, I know nothing about SM but Marvel has done such a great job with casting the movies and shows that I am willing to give her the benefit of the doubt. Though, the rumor that Ryan Philippe (sp?) might play Danny makes me want to gag. I dont know how I feel about the rumors about them wanting to cast Charlie... dont know his last name, the guy from Sons of Anarchy, lol.

Not only were they only along for the ..."I know that there has been a big call for them to cast an Asian actor as Danny Rand/Iron Fist, it will be interesting to see who they actually cast. I don't see either Charlie Hunnam (I think that's his name) or Ryan Phillipe, but you are right, currently Marvel has done some pretty good casting so we'll see.
My problem when it comes to black heroines is I feel like they are looking for actresses that have a certain "look" versus one that really makes the character come to life. Misty Knight has a certain swagger that the actress will need to pull off. It will be interesting to see the final results. Can't wait.
Oh yes, speaking of the first X-men movies, don't even get me started on how they did Rogue and the pitiful treatment of the Dark Phoenix storyline!

Not only were they..."Yes, one scene in and we will know. Misty has to be... well, Misty. Asian Danny works just as well as blond Danny. I am just not there for knee high to a june bug Danny.

ETA: I just hope they handle the "white guy goes to Asia to learn stuff" in a delicate way, lol. I like what Marvel has done so far ( Luke and Jessica were so good in Jessica Jones) but I know it could go left.
I like the casting of him for Iron Fist. It would be awesome if they also include Coleen Wing and have the entire Heroes for Hire crew. She's Asian so it would be a nice multi-culti crew.
