Is there just something... I don't know what... about vampires... that brings the submissive out in us? Take my blood, Mistress. Take my life. I am yours, body and soul...
Like in this one book i read but i cant rembear the name a vampire changed a vanhellsing then becomes obsessed with him and makes sure that he can't become involved with anyone and kills them then talks about how they are in a marriage of darkness.
I think it depends on the vampire. I think many writers write in the notion of the vampire being preternaturally attractive because that particular style of vampire uses it as a hunting technique (he's able to glamour people or hypnotize them). Then you have some stories using vampires who are predatory in a different way. More like animals. I think in the first type you find vampires for whom the tables are turned and they're attracted to their victim. There's a great old story called Carmilla by Joseph Sheridan Le Fanu in which the female vampire seems to have an emotional attachment to the girls she's picked to feed on. Some might call it an obsession but when I read the story I considered it more of an attachment formed by someone who, because of what she is, is unable to get close to people and here she's found someone that she truly considers a friend. It makes the story even more touching cause despite her affection for the girl or her need for friendship, Carmilla is still what she is and can't stop herself from carrying out the urges of her kind.
Is it really that good? I love vampire stories but im tired of stories where the hunter is obsessed with the vampire and not the other way around.
I really enjoyed Carmilla. It was written in the mid 1800s but I think it reads well. Offhand, I don't know of any stories where the vampire is obsessed with the hunter but I would think there has to be some out there. You might want to check out some vampire romance sights. There is a sequel written by Kyle Marffin called Carmilla the Return that was pretty good.
There's another story, more a legend, about vampires who can only drink the blood of relatives. So they have to seek out relatives to survive. That's an interesting notion.
