please help me find the name of this book!

I would be so grateful if you could help me remember the name of this book.

It is a fiction aimed at adolescents or young adults, a story that I somehow remember being based in Australian bush - but easily could have been American.

The plot involved a teenaged, high school female student leaving the city to move in with her father and step-mother in the bush area.

She struggles at high school and is bullied somewhat and struggles to adjust to her new life.

They catch a school bus from their farm to school and back each day.

I'm so sorry I don't have more details, they are very murky yet to book almost defined me as a teenager, for many years I have longed to find it again.

If anyone thinks of it I will post in the forum for sure.
