message 253: by Sophia (new)

Sophia | 163 comments Haha my cupboard is always empty!!!!!

I've recently started reading The Arabian Nights. It's such an interesting read, stories within stories. I've never read anything like it and it is so cool

message 254: by [deleted user] (new)

Hahahahaha well I'm hoping mum bought it for me bc...I kinda ate some of it lols...I'm sure I'll find out tomorrow if it wasn't for me *wide eyed* - I find its worth a look every now and then u just never no wat u might find! :D

A few of my friends have read that and said it was good...I personally have never read it though.

Hahaha lets hope *crosses fingers*

Yeah, it's kind of hard to understand sometimes because of the type of writing it uses but other than that its pretty good

Thanks....me hopes so too :) anyways it was yummy while it lasted ;)

Yeah those sorts of texts do get a bit confusing until u wrap ur head around it! I once read a book where the story was all letters...it was actually a really interesting way to write...I enjoyed it! It was an old book called Daddy-Long-Legs

Haha no doubt :D

I actually read a book like that as well. We had to read it for school and it was about this girl and she wrote letters to this other girl who was in prison and the whole book was in letter form but it got kind of confusing because some of them were out of order but I still liked it anyway. It had a sad ending but I won't say any more on that. I have no idea what it was called lol

message 258: by [deleted user] (new)

:)

That would b a bit confusing with the letters out of order...
Btw mine had a happy ending...it was like playing detective...work out who the daddy long legs was (the guy with the really long legs... all she saw of him was his shadow when he chose to sponsor her college education outside the orphanage)

It was a bit confusing but that was all part of the writers plan no doubt. The ending was kind of left as an open mystery but considering the past letters within the entire book, you got a pretty good idea of what happened.

Hahaha lol that's pretty random. :D
So was the guy actually her dad or just some guy doing something nice for someone?

message 260: by [deleted user] (new)

Yeah I guess although I don't like being confused all the time...it makes me feel stupid...

Nah wasn't her dad....she gave him that term from the daddy long leg spiders...bc there legs are soo long. And all she saw of her sponsor was his shadow and it showed really long legs...hence the name :)

message 261: by [deleted user] (new)

I actually really enjoyed reading it :) it's a pretty old book though...

message 262: by Sophia (new)

Sophia | 163 comments Hahaha yeah same but it wasn't that confusing tbh

Oooh okay, no worries. Just seems weird a guy would randomly pay for her college education.

Aw that's good then

In now days it sounds a bit weird...but back then that's how the orphanage's worked as they couldnt afford to keep the child on after a certain age...so they would have a benefactor (that were really wealthy men) come in and they would choose a child and then they would send them off to educate them. That way not as many kids would be left out on the streets seeking for jobs etc.

Yeah it is a bit weird...but the novel was first published back in 1912 so its pretty old!! I find it interesting to sometimes read stories that are based around real facts and history etc...even if the story itself is fiction.

Yeah, I agree. I find it makes the story for me at least seem more real. It helps me wrap my head around a new world or a new story if there is something familiar in it.

I no exactly what u mean!!!! just adds extra life and realism to the story! Although dont get me wrong i do love my completely fiction world where nothing has to be based on fact or can be explained....it just is bc the book said so :D

Oh HAHAHA I thought you already knew!!! LOL
Haha lol well all of my goodreads friends and everyone in this group knows now :D

Those movies were sooo good!! That's why I decided to read the books. Personally, I like the movies better. But that's maybe because I grew up with the movies and plus they have Anne Hathaway and Julia Andrews in them :D

message 280: by [deleted user] (new)

Nah I had to become an investigator first lols...but I got sidetracked by answering ur post and then I remembered afterwards wat I was supposed to b doing lols...hence the 2 separate posts from me lols hehehe xD

Those movies are sooo good!!! That second one with the guy and his massively blue eyes (my little girl crush)!! And plus we see more of Genovia which is good :D

Did you know that in the first three books of The Princess Diaries series Mia is only 14 years old and those books only span like 2 months ??? Crazy right??

message 282: by [deleted user] (new)

Nah it's not a secret anymore :D

I really like that actor!!! And he does have very stunning eyes :)

No I didn't no that!! She's like supposed to b 15 in the first movie...

message 283: by Sophia (new)

Sophia | 163 comments Nooooooo!!!!

Yeah he does *dreamily think about his eyes*

Yeah I know, right? But I guess they just wanted to make her older in the movies in case they did another one which they did do

message 284: by [deleted user] (new)

message 289: by Sophia (new)

Sophia | 163 comments Haha I know right?

message 290: by [deleted user] (new)

@sophia haha sounds like I might have to watch that when it comes out :)

@chychy interrupt away...better yet...the random interruptions are always the best :)

message 291: by Sophia (new)

Sophia | 163 comments Haha lol I hope you mean watching or reading about it coz if not I might start worrying.

Yeah I can't wait for it to come out but it said it was going to be a 2017 release which is disappointing

message 292: by [deleted user] (new)

Hello guys! I am so bored since it seems that everyone else has gone to bed!

message 293: by [deleted user] (new)

@sophia I would have to agree with u there about the world war 2! I always find it interesting though to watch the old war movies or reading about them...my fav book was the solider boy that was a good read although sad...but that's just a given! :(
Wat 2017 that's too long to wait I'll have forgotten about it by then lol hahaha

The only WW2 movie I watched was the Boy in the Striped Pajamas. That was the most moving and sad movie I have ever seen and I still can't deal with it.

I know!!! Hopefully they move up the release date.
