If you are willing to place one of your October reading choices in the hands of another person, just leave a comment here with at least five books and no more than ten from your TBR shelf. Participants need to leave comments no later than Tuesday, Sept 22nd.

Here's how it will work:
Sophia will match people up and leave a comment with a list of who will choose for whom.
When you see the person you are to pick for, then just look at their list in the above comments and leave a new comment with their name and the book you chose for them by Tuesday, Sept 29th.
You also need to watch and see what book your person chose from your list for you.
You have the rest of the month to read the book.

So if this sounds like something you would like to do, just comment below leaving your name and list of book choices for someone to pick your October book.

Patricia | 29 comments wait so i choose books from someone else list to read and they do same for me?

message 5: by Sophia (new)

Sophia (sophiarose) | 757 comments Mod
Yes, Trish!

If you want to participate, you put a list here of several books that you want to read. In a week, I'll draw names and post the list here. You'd get a name so you would choose one book off their list for them and the person who gets your name picks a book for you. Then everyone has the month of October to get their books read.

If you want to better see how it works, I left up the August Someone Else Pick Discussion thread and you can check it out.

It's fun and really helps when you can't decide what to read. LOL!

Emma: A Modern Retelling by Alexander McCall Smith
Sense & Sensibility by Joanna Trollope

Northanger Abbey by Nancy Butler
Suddenly You by Cecilia Grey
Pride and Prejudice: The Other Way Round by Anne Wrightwell

message 9: by Abigail (new)

Abigail Bok (regency_reader) Hi, Trish, the Joan Austen Leigh book is probably only available as a used paperback; her books were published before ebooks, and I imagine they weren’t big enough sellers to be retroactively released in ebook formats. Jane by the Sea is available on US Amazon in both paperback and ebook formats.

message 11: by Abigail (new)

Abigail Bok (regency_reader) I’ve had so much fun with this before that I can’t resist entering again!

Robert Rodi, Bitch In a Bonnet: Reclaiming Jane Austen From the Stiffs, the Snobs, the Simps and the Saps, Volume 2
Jack Caldwell, Bourbon Street Nights: Volume One of Crescent City
Linda Beutler, A Will of Iron (couldn’t get a link to come up),
Marion Chesney, Lady Fortescue Steps Out

I think that’s it for now; am restricting myself to works already in the house—have been buying too many books!

Happy Fall, Everyone! I drew names randomly or mostly since I changed out a few that had each other last time. If you changed your mind and can't do it, message me so I can maybe work a swap.

Instructions that hopefully make sense. ;)
The person to the left will choose for the person whose name is to the right in the second column from their list up above. Make your choices by Oct 1st please so your partner has the whole month to finish her/his book.

For example: Sophia has Kim so Sophia will pick a book for Kim to read off Kim's list. Sophia will leave her choice for Kim here in the comments. Kim will read it and come back here and share her thoughts by the end of October.

Ready, set, go!!!!!

Howdy Kim!

I drew your name. I am picking The Second Chance by Joanna Starnes because I love the idea of mashing together P&P and S&S. Look forward to your thoughts on it.

message 22: by Sheila (new)

Sheila Majczan (sheilalmajczan) | 138 comments For Trish I chose Mr. Darcy's Letter: A Pride & Prejudice Variation by Abigail Reynolds. It does have some MA scenes in it but I do love how this author comes up with so many inventive variations...plus these scenes are built up to...not just there for the thrill factor. I hope you enjoy it. I did post a review when I read it for the second time.

Georgiana 1792 | 95 comments Hi Erika, I pick The Annotated Persuasion by Jane Austen & David M Shapard for you, because Persuasion in my favourite book - I re-read it almost once a year! - but I never read the annotated version by David M. Shapard (actually, I'd like to read all his annotated editions). :)
I hope you'll enjoy it, and maybe, after reading it you would like to read the Captain Wentworth's side of the story (Captain Wentworth's Diary by Amanda Grange). You know, I read at the same time CWD and Persuasion (it was something like my 6th time, though)

message 29: by Deborah (new)

Deborah | 55 comments Hi Sophia. I've chosen Jane by the Sea for you to read. I hope nyou enjoy it. It's one I haven't read and almost put on my list.

Abigail Bok (regency_reader) Hi, Debbie, I feel moved to suggest that you read my namesake, Abigail Reynolds's, book, Alone with Mr. Darcy. After all, who wouldn't want to be? ;)

@kim, thank you! A nice short one that I've been wanting to read for a year. Much appreciated!

@Debbie- I look forward to it. I haven't read one with Jane as the main character in a while.

message 35: by Ahnya (last edited Sep 23, 2015 10:39AM) (new)

Ahnya @ Georgiana I decided to take a different approach, and pick the book I know nothing about. So it is going to be Pride and Prejudice: The Other Way Round. Plus the gender swap looked kinda interesting. Hope you enjoy!

Yes, that'a a book that intrigued me, thank you, Ahnya. I already read the biography of John Austen at the beginning... :D

message 40: by Kirk (last edited Sep 24, 2015 08:24AM) (new)

Kirk (goodreadscomkirkc) | 77 comments @Erika I enjoyed The Three Colonels Jane Austen's Fighting Men by Jack Caldwell !! Thx!! I would joke that it might be called the 2 1/2 Colonels...as Colonel Brandon gets much less "air time" than the other two. Marianne Dashwood(my favorite heroine) Brandon gets one truly great scene...worth the price of admission...but then does something rather odd. As other the Jack Caldwell books I've recently enjoyed(The Crescent City series, for example), the multiple plot lines can have your head spinning. One plot line was too long...and perhaps too much for mature audiences....for my (limited) taste. 3.5-4 out of 5.

@ Trish It was a freebie kindle in January. I just checked and it isn't available anymore. It isn't a loaner or I would loan it to you. If I see one come available I will let you know.

Erika (eureeka75) | 92 comments @Kirk that was fast reading!!! I'm glad you liked it. I'll have to read one day soon!! But I'm a bit prejudiced since I LOVED Pemberley Ranch by Jack Caldwell!!!! I'm sorry Colonel Brandon got so little script, I do like his character. Personally between Marianne and Elinor, I generally assimilate with Elinor more. I look forward to seeing more of your reviews.

Thanks again! I kinda liked Pemberley Ranch, but I loved
Mr Darcy Came to Dinner. Lol, can an Elinor fan like a
Marianne type fan reviews? I hope you enjoy Shapard's
