Manu Saadia's Trekonomics was funded over the weekend and there is a great write up on what works when crowd funding. You can check his update at the link below.

I love the idea of getting traditional media outlets in board.

My question is, how does one get these outlets interested in interviewing or writing about a project?

The basics of what is required I understand, it's the hook or secret codes that I'd love to read about- tips from writers who have succeeded in this arena!

Thanks,
Brian

Hard to say what makes the media interested. Timing, and something marketable I would guess, but it is hard to know what that might be. It just so happened--and rightly so--there was an interest in analyzing the economics of Star Trek. For original fiction it is going to be a lot more difficult to gather interest this way.

Amanda Orneck (amandaorneck) Honestly it comes down to good ol' PR. You connect with media outlets whose audience overlap with yours, and when they see value in you as a colleague, they are more likely to pick up your story. You can hard pitch outlets, but the success rate is very low on that for unknown indie books. Granted, you have an interesting crowdfunding story in Inkshares, so that might be an angle you could use.
