I loved The Golden Compass too! I finished reading Second Chance Summer (make sure you have tissues nearby) and it was really good! I think I'm lagging a bit behind but I figure I'll catch up over the summer when I can read a lot more!

just because of the title, Pattie?!! looks hilarious, thanks for sharing!
Kyra, summer is the best time to read! I love going to the beach (or even just sitting in my backyard) and soaking up the sun with a good book in my hands. I'm so ready for it to get warm outside!
Liz wrote: "I'm up to 20 books finished, and I'm working through four others at the moment. How's everyone else doing with the challenge? On track? Way ahead or still behind? I'm giving myself some leeway for ..."All on my tbr list! I need to read the Pullman series as well. I never saw the movie. I think I'm on 12 or 13 books, trying to get ahead right now so I have wiggle room later
Here's wishing everyone Happy St. Patrick's Day!!
Liz wrote: "Last week, I got through a bit more of Team of Rivals. It's a great book, but it's hard for me to read more than a chapter at a time." I've started Team of Rivals also, and am finding that it is slow going. I'm not reading anything else at the moment, I think I've hit a slump, although I've read 36 books so far. Nothing at the moment peaks my interest. Maybe it's the weather. :)
Wow, 36 books, Ann! That's admirable. I think Team of Rivals is very well written and there are parts that really pull me in, but then there are some parts that I feel drag on. Plus, I'm not a big nonfiction reader so I'm not used to the way a nonfiction book reads when compared to a novel. Good luck, though! I think it will be worth it in the end.
I finished Life After Life today. I loved the writing, but wasn't completely sold on the gimmick...overall a solid read. I'm picking up Walking Across Egypt by Southern writer Clyde Edgerton since I enjoyed Raney. I'm also working on Susan Cheever's Lousia May Alcott biography...and I've had The Interestings sitting around for a while...I'm averaging about a book a week so I'm on track with the challenge. I've always been a consistent reader, but this challenge has really put a focus onto my reading. I'm having so much fun with it. I do expect to read more in the summer so who knows, maybe I'll make it past 52 books!! I love seeing what everyone else is reading and have added several books to my to read list based on recommendations I've seen here.

Happy new week everyone!!! I just finished my 42nd book for the year so far (again please remember I don't sleep so this is nothing special) I do need to log in a few that I have neglected to log but I am currently working on Silver City and Silver Child, I just reread the Divergent trilogy over the weekend so I would be fresh when the movie came out (have to keep up with the kids questions). And picked up the Delirium trilogy by Lauren Oliver to reread.
I finished my second biography Seven Dirty Words... and will pick up another of some sort tomorrow.
I have been working the CWI bookfair and quick read several of those so I could recommend them to the children... If you have little ones grades 3-5 there are some great new books out there!!! Ever After High has a new book out the girls are going crazy over and it is pretty good. And for boys there is My Zombie Goldfish is just as good.
Anyway; I hope everyone curls up with a great read during this cold, wet, nasty weather!!!
I'm pretty much on track with my reading. I've read 10-12 so far. I'm still reading "Clash of the Kings" & will be for a while-about 1/3 of the way through. Finishing up "Don't Fill Up on the Antipasto" & just started "The Returned". Happy reading to all!
I've read 10 books so far, although I found out I can't count The Pearl, it was only 87 pages. Since it was an audio book though it wasn't a big deal.I finished that last week, finished The Choice by Nicholas Sparks (surprisingly the first of his books I had read) and am about one chapter away from finishing The Prayer of the Lord.
I'm still working through A Dance With Dragons, (I expected this one to take a while, all the others did!) but I think I'm about a quarter of the way through it.
I started Trap Door by Sarah Graves. My husband picked that one out for me because he thought it looked like something I might enjoy so I figured why not.
Last but not least I'm still reading Sacred Marriage by Gary Thomas as my church group works through the study.
Wow, that was a ton of updating!
For those of you that have already read 20 books or more, that is amazing! I'm completely in awe. I still think I'm on track for meeting the 52 books this year though.
On another side note, in case anyone would like to get some e-book bundles, here are a few links to sales that are going on right now:https://www.humblebundle.com/

Don't misunderstand me, I love the library! These are just some great sites to support the authors, get books at great prices and in some cases support charity too, so I wanted to share.
I just found "The Good Life" by Helen and Scott Nearing at the thrift store the other day. I've been looking for it for AGES, so needless to say I was thrilled and will be starting it this evening, since I finished up another cozy mystery last night.
I am on track with the reading challenge. Finished Fifty Shades Freed. It was okay, but definitely not great writing. (Inner goddess drove me nuts). I am loving Outlander on CD! Reading The Prince from the author of The Selection. I need to check to see if it's over 100 pages though. Happy reading!
I just finished "Swept Off Her Feet" by Hester Browne which was a DELIGHT! and am now going to start my March Biography/Autobiography by reading Paul O'Grady's "At My Mother's Knee...and other low joints".
I'm behind IMO I'm on book 14, just finished my autobio/bio for March: My Story by Elizabeth Smart and I was not impressed. Now working on Greedy Bones, a light mystery to get back into my books after a death in the family took up a lot of my time :(
Sorry for your loss, Jennifer.Don't worry about only being at 14. That's still on track since next week starts Week 13. Good luck with your mystery!
This week I'll be reading
Panic by Lauren Oliver. Brand, spanking new. Super-excited! This will be my 15th book.
I just finished The Black Prism by Brent Weeks. 626 pages in 2 days, I just closed it and put it on my table, and I'm about to open the next book in the series. It's been quite awhile since I've been so engrossed in a story that when I'm not actively reading it, I'm thinking about it.
I just read The Elite by Kiera Cass. It took one day. It's book two. Book one was The Selection & was recommended by the library staff on FB. At the same time, I am 3/4 finished with The Power of Six. I might need to sleep in since I read until 1:00 A.M. Lol

Last week, I got through a bit more of Team of Rivals. It's a great book, but it's hard for me to read more than a chapter at a time. I also finished The Golden Compass and jumped right into the next book in the series, The Subtle Knife. I can't believe I've never read this series before! It's so good!
I also decided to pick up The City of Fallen Angels last week since I'd read the original Mortal Instruments trilogy but had never followed up with the next three in the series. It's a quick read and pretty entertaining so it provides a nice light read when compared to the Lincoln biography.
What is everyone else reading this week?
