Pat,
Cut & Run actually gets better. I didn't like Dark Skye

I did and you know I posted a review. I got frustrated with the pacing a couple of times because I knew who did it the minute the character was introduced. I was torn between 4.25 & 4.5stars

Sometimes our tastes are dead on other times we leave each other scratching our heads. I felt the same. I loved the characters and plan to continue the series.

Yeah I have to agree about the pacing on that one and I knew pretty quick who it was too. I'll check out your review

I felt the same of Dark Skye

⚜️XAR the Bookwyrm (xar-the-bookwyrm) Just finished my other pick for the month: As the Last Petal Falls, using it for the "What's in YOUR Book?" Challenge. Sadly, I was bored for most of it and only rated it one star.

message 258: by Jodi (new)

Jodi (jojolyn) | 673 comments Finished my 2 Dusty Reads:

The Prey (Predator Trilogy, #1) by Allison Brennan (finished 10/4/15) was a 4-star read. I already have the other 2 books downloaded on my Nook. I hope to get to them by the end of the month.

Undead and Unwed (Undead, #1) by MaryJanice Davidson (finished 10/7/15) was a 3-star read. It had some laugh out funny parts. The book got better as it went on. I might pick up the rest of the series, at some point.

Kay (Brigidsmomma),
I got through The Raider (Highland Guard, #8) by Monica McCarty . I am alive, but I need a drink. Damn it was kind of boring :(
LOL, but I love her covers sooo much that I keep getting those books. I have never enjoyed the series.
Thanks Kay

~Melissa~ | 5253 comments @Ezi ~ Maybe you should just take a snapshot of her covers to take out and peek at....then make a story in your mind to fit. Maybe you would like that better :)

LOL, I loved her Campbell Trilogy. And I have a thing for covers

message 262: by ~Melissa~ (new)

~Melissa~ | 5253 comments It is a bummer when you like one of an authors series and not another. Well the covers certainly are drool worthy :D

Glad you liked them! I've only done one of my picks so far. I keep getting distracted by other books....I'm a book hussy.

Yeah, I know that feeling... I AM getting better about not reading stuff that I really don't like though. Far better to spend my time with something else than to suffer through something I'm not feelin'. Too little time... SOOOOOOO many books!

Finished One Hundred Years of Solitude by Gabriel García Márquez , I must mention that this was a re-read, awesome as usual, really the very best of magical realism \:D/

Hi Dora - I finished Revenge Wears Prada The Devil Returns (The Devil Wears Prada, #2) by Lauren Weisberger and didn't really like it. I hated how the author chose to end the book... But I'm glad to have it off my TBR, so thanks for the nudge to get it read!

Finished Time and Again (History Mystery, #1) by Deborah Heal - Loved it! One more book to go!

message 270: by Emma Ruth (new)

Emma Ruth (inevitablyannoying) I managed to read both my dusty's this month (first time ever, woo-hoo!)

Amnesia by Sinclair Smith was rather disappointing. I just couldn't get into it, though the idea was great.

We All Looked Up by Tommy Wallach was amazing. I laughed, I cried, I thought about my existence. I highly recommend it.

Thanks so much for both those picks Cait! I had a great month reading them :)

message 271: by Theo (new)

Theo | 1929 comments I finished one of my picks for the month Code Talker A Novel About the Navajo Marines of World War Two by Joseph Bruchac . I listened to the audio, which I think made the book better because I could actually hear the Navajo being spoken, so I didn't have to mangle it in my head while trying to figure out what it should sound like. I'd recommend for the younger end of YA (like 12-14).

message 272: by Ashley (new)

Ashley Reid (kikilew) | 16 comments Finally finished one of my picks. Definitely liked it, but for some reason I can't say I completely loved it. :)

The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

message 273: by Joanna (new)

Joanna | 43 comments I finished my two picks.

A minha história com BOB by James Bowen gets **** and The Coroner (Jenny Cooper, #1) by M.R. Hall **.

message 274: by VampAmber (new)

VampAmber | 622 comments Due to extreme procrastination, I am scrambling like mad crazy to finish my second pick before midnight (no worries, I chose to do said scrambling, because I'm weird like that (and a total completionist)). This method may or may not work, though, because I have a Halloween party to go to later, and I haven't actually slept yet (insomnia hates me worse than usual lately). ^_^ I see LOTS of caffeine in my future.

Due to too many interesting challenges this month, I didn't finish my 2nd Dusty Bookshelf book but I plan to read it in November.

message 276: by Dora (new)

Dora | 27 comments Finished Queen Margot, or Marguerite de Valois (The Last Valois, #1) by Alexandre Dumas , and I'm not really impressed. Half of the characters get assassinated and the other half is left in mourning, which brings me to conclusion that Dumas didn't like happy endings. Probably for expecting it to be more like The Three Musketeers, I was pretty disappointed.

message 277: by VampAmber (new)

VampAmber | 622 comments I'm technically a day late, but I did finish my second pick, My Life as a White Trash Zombie (White Trash Zombie, #1) by Diana Rowland , and I'm glad I did. It was awesome! Can't wait to read the rest of the series. ^_^
