I am a bit behind in my reading, but intend to circle back. I was really enjoying the story but I had to put it down to read some other books.

I actually like what I've read so far.
I too have been unable to keep up. This is a book you have to pay attention to. Sadly my life was turned upside down with the unexpected loss of my mom. I'm having a tough time right now focusing enough to get any sort of meaning. I even tried the audio. Just can't pay attention. I may try again in a couple weeks but dirty I've not participated
So sorry to hear about your mom, Stephanie. Hang in there. The grieving process tends to be a long one, but important to your healing process.
Jolene, I very much do the same if the book is really intriguing me. For schedule groups like this I have found that keeping copious notes for each 'assigned section' helps, and makes it so that I can continue to participate in the discussion at least to some extent.

I think it's partly the "mystery" that I'm having a harder time than usual stopping. I am generally a one book kind of gal anyway. More recently, I've had 2, an audio and a book.
Stephanie --- so sorry about the loss of your mother. Maybe you just need some "brain candy" books during this hard time.
Stephanie wrote: "I too have been unable to keep up. This is a book you have to pay attention to. Sadly my life was turned upside down with the unexpected loss of my mom."You have my sympathy. And understanding -- my wife lost her mother (who had lived with us for fifteen years and in the house next to ours for twenty years before that) on Sunday, so our house is in mourning also. I wasn't as close to her as my wife was, but not that far behind.
Please extend my condolences to your wife Everyman. Here life is going on and getting back to work has been good for me. So many words of comfort from my patients parents and the kids themselves. And as for reading I'm starting with brainless fluff.
Stephanie and Everyman, my thoughts and prayers with both of you! I wish I knew words of comfort to say, but in those times, it never seems there are any right ones. :(
I'm almost done with the next section, which I thought was going to be posted for 11/17, but did we have a break week to catch up? If not, that's fine... I mod another group and know it's hard to keep up with posting threads with real life going on all the time :) Are we able to post new threads ourselves? Or do the mods prefer that we not, for consistency?
I wanted to ask everyone reading or about to read the Luminaries what to do with our discussion schedule. Obviously, we are not on time, so would you prefer me to adjust the schedule and follow it on, so that we finish the book about 3 weeks later than planned (if so, I'll post the modified schedule here soon). Or would you like me to adjust it so that we read it more intensely? If anyone wants to jump in but hasn't started yet, I want to say that we still haven'¨t reached the middle of the book, so it's a perfect moment to catch up (which I'm going to do myself, over the weekend).Alana wrote: "I'm almost done with the next section, which I thought was going to be posted for 11/17, but did we have a break week to catch up? I've just posted the next section thread, please feel free to comment there. Sorry for the delay!
Hi, Teanka. I am ok either way. I am almost through Part 1 so I'm a little behind but intend to finish the book by the end of the month.
I'm behind based on what the originally proposed schedule was because I stopped, not wanting to get too far ahead. I'd be fine with just continuing from here, as if we just took a couple of "break" weeks. I'm enjoying the book, but I also know as we continue into December reading time is going to be difficult with so many other activities going on.
Sorry for posting it later than I thought. I should finish reading Part I today, so I'm behind, too.Part I
09/20 - 09/30 (10 days) Mercury in Sagittarius; Jupiter in Sagittarius
10/01 - 10/10 (10 days) Mars in Sagittarius; Saturn in Libra; Midnight Dawns in Scorpio
10/11 - 10/21 (10 days) Moon in Taurus, Waxing; Sun in Capricorn
10/22 - 10-31 (10 days) Medium Coeli; True Node in Virgo; Venus in Capricorn
11/01 - 11/07 (7 days) Conjunctions; Mercury in Sagittarius
Part II
11/08 - 11/17 (10 days) Ecliptic; Aries in the Third House; Jupiter in Sagittarius; Mercury in Capricorn; The Lesser Malefic; Sun in Aquarius; Saturn in Libra
12/15 - 12/25 (10 days) Mars in Capricorn; A Month Without a Moon; Venus in Aquarius
Part III
12/26 - 01/01 (7 days) Mercury in Aquarius; Sun in Pisces; Saturn in Virgo; Venus in Pisces; Jupiter in Capricorn
01/02 - 01/09 (7 days) Moon in Aries, Crescent; Mars in Aquarius; NGA Potiki A Rehua; The Greater Malefic; Equinox
Part IV
01/10 - 01/20 (10 days) Part IV
Parts V, VI
01/21 - 01/31 (10 days) Parts V, VI
Parts VII - XI
02/01 - 02/07 (7 days) - Parts VII, VIII, IX, X, XI
However, now that I'm reading it, I'm not convinced that this is a good type of book to read so slowly, I think you can forget a lot while waiting for the next section. And it seems that most of the readers dropped from these threads already. So, I have an alternative proposal: I could post threads for bigger sections of the book (the entire Part II; parts III-IV; Parts V-till the end) where we would comment after we've finished reading them. This way, we could probably finish this year.
What do you prefer?
I opened threads for the rest of the book. It will be some time, though, before I read it. I plan to be finished before the year ends.
Teanka, I'm going to try and start this one soon. I wanted to read it in a big chunk, so I'll appreciate your advanced reading schedule!
Oh, great, Kaycie, that's a nice surprise :). Actually, now that I'm in the middle of the book, I think that I recommend reading it in a big chunk too, because otherwise it may be difficult to keep track of the different perspectives - twelve of them in total! For the first part of the book (approximately 360 pages) there are the existing threads of the discussion, dating back to October- November.
I agree, reading in larger chunks is good.Unfortunately, I slowed down when we weren't posting the next sections, because I didn't want to get too far ahead, but then got caught up in house hunting and a couple of other books I was reading on the side and now the holiday season, so I've fallen way behind. I'll post when I can, but I think I'll be pretty busy until January, as I have a lot of houseguests between now and then.
