SOLVED. YA Factory girl getting injured by a loom? [s]

I have a feeling it's a Dear America book but I remember a novel about a turn of the century (MAYBE earlier) young female factory worker who either gets injured by a flying shuttlecock or her friend does and it basically scalps you. For the life of me I cannot remember the name and it's blending in with all the other "factory girl" stories I've read over the years. Anyone know?
