Hi everyone! My name is Ayunda, I'm 17 and the new co-Mod for this group. As you all probably know I love reading. I'm not a super fast reader, but I spend quite a lot of time reading and I really hope I can reach one million pages in my life!For me, after calculating the number of pages I read in a year, it'll probably take me from 10 to 100 years depending on the pace, but I'll try to reach that number in less than 20 years :O
Hi. I'm AH and I used to read way more than I do now (*cough* cough* Netflix addiction *cough*cough*). However, this may be the challenge that makes me read. I looked at my GR stats and I read about 50-60K pages per year so this challenge will take a while.
Hi everyone, I'm Sandra. Thanks Thenia for the invite :)Over the last couple of yrs I've read between 65000 & 82000 according to GR. This doesn't take into account re-reads which GR doesn't count if the book doesn't have enough editions :D
So on average that makes about 14 yrs to reach the Million.
I'll be adding my previous yrs totals in of course :)
Wow! I have no idea how long it would take to read a Million, but I am willing to give it the old college try:):):) I am curious how do we count that?

Choko everyone has a different way of keeping track of their pages, but the first step would be creating your personal thread (under the alphabetized folders - for you it would be in this one) and deciding when you'd like to start the challenge (backtrack or start counting form here on out).
Take a look in a couple of threads by other members so you can get an idea of how you can do it. Some keep posts with the books they read and add them up, while others only add the numbers and the updating frequency also varies a lot.
Give it a try and see what works for you. :)

I don't know how the counting of pages would be possible but I think I shall discover it along the way. :)
Just signed up today. This group struck me because there was a man, Kim Peek, who read 12,000 books in his life, so that's over a million right there, assuming the books were at least moderately long. He was able to simultaneously read one page with one eye, and the opposite page with the other.Best way to hit a million is read the large print books for seniors, fewer words per page.

Hello everybody! I'm Clara.I'm a really slow reader... If I keep reading at the same pace, it'll take me 126 years to reach 1 million! But hopefully this group will keep me motivated :)
I've set a personal challenge for myself: I'll try to read 100 pages a day next year (right now I read an average of 20 a day), so I think that might help too.

Have you tried audiobooks? They've increased my reading exponentially the past couple of years. (It helps that I speed them up since most narrators are too slow for my taste..)
Welcome Clara and Matt!I think that as long as you update your books on Goodreads, you can see how many pages you've read. The guide is really useful, thank you for making that Thenia!
For me I average around 30-60 pages a day, but it really depends on my mood and, of course, the book you're currently reading. Sometimes I'd even read 150 pages in a day if the book's really engrossing and you just can't stop!

Figured out I have about 659,000 or so if I just count books read after joining GR...a decade and a bit at my current pace! LOL...looking forward to chatting with y'all for a LONG time to come!Though I may go back and count others just to see where I am, in general, in my life! You're more than halfway there already! If you can remember what you read before you joined GR then by all means add them. I only added a few of those and always lament not keeping track somehow before GR.

I'm a big fan of fantasy, science fiction and urban fantasy. As for the 1000000 per lifetime goal I think it will take me some time. Presently, I've read about 221023 pages but as the man said there are so many books but so little time (nowadays).

Hi everyone!I'm Carmen and I saw Thenia's post on the SOS Bingo page and she invite me to come over and check it out. I'm finally here and this sounds like fun. I'm currently alitle over 78,000 pages this year and last year I read over 47,000. I think I'm higher this year do to all the challenges I joined. I'm kind of a challenge junkie. :) I'm going to start my million count with the 2 yrs. I'm guessing it will take me about 12-15 yrs to hit the 1,000,000 depending on the my reading moods or whats going on in my life. This year has been an audiobook year. I actually enjoy it especially when I'm busy running around and I don't get to sit and actually read a book. This is going to be a lot of fun.

Hi, all! I'm Trea. I saw Thenia's invite over in The Challenge Factory and I've been waffling over it for the past month or so. Then I took a look at my pages stats and saw that I read almost 100,000 pages in 2014! If I can keep that rate up, it should take me about 8 years to reach 1,000,000, so I figured "Why not go for it?", so here I am!I'm a stay at home mom that prefers e-books to most other formats, and I like to stay in the romance end of the pool, though I have dabbled in mysteries, fantasy and Sci-fi in my lifetime. I'm looking forward to seeing what I can do!

I prefer at least a dash of romance in my books too, but I think the scales have tipped towards audiobooks for me, with e-books falling to second place.

I've never counted pages before and taking a look at my 2015 stats, I'm at 35,715 pages for the year, plus my current book which is 562 pages long. So that will put me at 36,277 pages for 2015. I'm surprised my number is that low, but I do gravitate towards smaller books so I guess that shows :) 1 million pages is a daunting task, but it's also a fun goal to work towards, so I'm up for the challenge!
I'm an eclectic reader and like just about everything!

Hi everyone! My name is Brianna and I've been keeping track of how many pages I've read in 2012 with this specific goal in mind so I'm pretty excited there's a group dedicated to it! I read about 50k pages a year (used to be more more sad day) so I know it'll take me quite a bit to reach 1 million.
Hi, everyone! May name is Nadia. I used to read much more in my youth but now I just don't get as much time as I would like to have for that. So according to my Goodreads' stat it would take me about 50 years to reach that goal although if I could and would remember everything I read in prior years it would significantly reduce the number. As it is in years 2012-2015 I read 53K pages according to stats, although it didn't count rereading and read fan fiction.

Wherever you are, may you be cuddled up in a warm blanket, reading!I've been known by several monikers as the years have gone by (headacheslayer, thecraftyangel, Krista, Krista The Bald Avenger,) and now, The Rainbow Zebra. I'm not trying to evade aliens, just finally settling into something that fits all of me.
I am a 45yo disabled mom (married 23yrs) with 2 kids--a 20yo daughter away at college and a son who just turned 14. I'm homebound but have oodles of hobbies.
I've always been a bookworm--started reading at three, thank you Sesame Street and Dick and Jane. Now I'm a volunteer for xoxoafterdark.com as an xoxpert (affiliated with Simon & Schuster). I get books and e-books to read every month--be on the look out! It is so rewarding to have this position with 20+ other ladies. My To Read pile is ridiculous!!

I will never be able to catch up to my ever expanding collection, but I am enjoying trying. Have fun decluttering!
I am an avid reader that manages to read over 130 books a year. Surprisingly I've been keep track of the pages read for many years now. So this seems like a good challenge to join. BTW, Manda I started with that same number about 6 years ago and now I'm done to 135. Keep at it and you might want to take a look at bookcrossing.com and their set it yourself challenge. You can set a goal of what you want to read each quarter. I believe we are at SIY 40 right now.

Hi. I’m Danielle recent graduate with a masters in early childhood/special education. I’ve worked as a paraprofessional for students of all ages with significant multiple disabilities and Autism for many years. This is my second GR account, one where I’m planning to take more time to review the books I read (after realizing there were too many I had no memory of reading before!) I’m hoping to have my own classroom this fall. I read everything from Children’s literature and picture books to my teaching theory books. I don’t really have a favorite genre, but tend to read a lot of YA, Memoir/Biography and Psychology. I read both paperback and ebooks as well as loaned ebooks from my library. When not reading, I love Broadway musicals, doing jigsaw puzzles and watching movies. Looking forward to starting my million pages with this group! (Also, when I track my books I don’t count appendixes that I skip as pages read, so that’s why my counts sometimes differ!) Glad to have found this group! (I’ve had a million pages goal on my bucket list. Ready to start!)
Hi! I'm Thyerus from Alsace, France.I wasn't used to read because as a child I prefered to play rather than read so I didn't have many books. I was the kind of child that say "I don't like reading".
But that's all in the past. I discovered the joy of reading when I grew up (and thanks to my mother who forced me to buy a book) and I began to gather more and more books. Some are gifts, some are leftovers of friends who moved, some other are the collections of greatfather, father and mother and some more are second-hand books.
Before I could realize I had more than 1000 books...
The sad part about all this is that I'm still playing video games (that's not the sad part) and I have almost as much video games than I have books and not enough time for all of this. At least, I'm trying to read one hour per day.
When I saw this challenge I said to myself "why not?" and so here I am! :)
P.S. You may have noticed but english is not my native language so I'm sorry if I'm awful to read.

I don't know how long I have been a member of this group but I am just now posting here. Life sure does get away from you sometimes.My name is Monica. I love books. My sister read more than I did growing up. I remember I loved the Hardy Boys Books and my sister had the Nancy Drew Books. We also had the Bobbsie Twins. One of the first books I remember reading was by Mary Higgins Clark A Stranger Is Watching That book got me hooked on mystery and suspense. Another book I Love is The Outsiders. No matter how many times I read that book I still cry.
A little about me. I am 50 years old and will be celebrating a birthday on the 4th of April. I have two grown children who do not live with me. I am divorced and currently have a boyfriend. My reading is sporadic. I too love to play video games or just veg out and watch tv. I also like to get up and move. I try to read when I go to the gym. That way I get some extra reading in and also my exercise. If the book is good I don't always realize how long I have been exercising.

I've been on goodreads for years, but didn't want to try to add up all the pages I've read. But I came across a post in this group about the stats available now (I never knew this before), so now that I have a starting point, I can keep track! I know there are thousands more pages that I've read in my life, so as I think of books I've read, I can now easily add them and the pages!!I have no idea how long it will take me to finish/meet this goal, but I'm determined!!

I haven't been very diligent about updating the group stats lately since I've been developing a book series tracking website (link to the Goodreads thread here for those interested), but I'll try to carve out some time to update them.

Hi, C here, it’s going to be a while to hit a mil....I’m a stop and think reader. So if a book is really getting my brain working it can take weeks to get through! One million in a life time is a great goal nonetheless.
