1. The books I read for summer reading were Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury, which is utopian and dystopian fiction. The other book ii read was Feynman by Jim Ottavinai, which is an autobiography. For Fahrenheit 451, I would give it a 5/5. To me, this story has a strong plotline and is very entertaining. For Feynman, I would give it a 3/5. This story to me was very boring, and it just talked about his life; in other words, it was very one-noted. 2. The book I preferred was by far, Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury. This book had a very different feel to it, and it was very different to the world we live in which was a twist that I loved. I would recommend this book to many people. I feel that a person with a very vivid imagination would love this book because its so out of the ordinary. 3. The setting is a place where reading books is illegal and they actually burn the books. This impacts the story because the book is based off the fact that it is illegal to have books, and fireman actually have to burn them. The setting is important because if it didn’t have that aspect in it, it would be like any other book. 4. The main character is Guy Montag. The main conflict is that Montag meets this girl named Clarice McClellan, who shows him the joys of reading. This is a conflict because Montag is a fire fighter, and like I said before, fire fighters jobs are to burn books. Montag now has to live with the guilt, and keep a secret that he has read books before. I related to this character because sometimes I had to keep secrets because I did something I was not supposed to do. 5. “It was a pleasure to burn” (Bradbury 1). I chose this quote because it is the most significate to me. This quote is most significate because it is so different from the end result. This quote shows the character growth and development of Montag. In the beginning of the book, Montag is pro burning books. In the end of the book, he learns the excitement that reading brings. 6. I read some stories from Grimms’ Fairy Tales by The Brothers Grimm, translated by MRS. E. V. Lucy Crane and Marian Edwards. I enjoy these fairy tales more then other ones because they have a gruesome ending at the end. For example, at the end of Cinderella, Doves peck out the two stepsister’s eyes out. In Snow-White, the witch has to dance around in hot iron boots until she dies. I defiantly would recommend these stories because it is so different from all the other fairy tales. 7. My best reading memory was probably reading Mrs. Peregrines Home for Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs. I am not an avid reader, but when I do find a book that seems interesting, I end up reading it. The type of books that appeal to me are horror, fantasy, and supernatural. These books most of the time have a lot of suspense and re very intriguing. They are the types of books you NEVER want to put down.
