And the Winners for Sep/ Oct 2015 Group Read Are!!!
I'd like to nominate Hard Case V: Blood and Fear
by Bernard Lee DeLeo.This is the 5th in Mr. DeLeo's Hard Case series, but can be enjoyed on its own.
Reader warning: do not read this book unless you’re prepared to get hooked on an exciting action series. Once you’ve read one, you’ll need to read them all!
I just bought The Ghosts of Belfast and I think it would make a fun group read. I'm new here and I don't know how to make links. Sorry. It's the first in a series.

I figured it out:The Ghosts of Belfast
OK, I can't get the author to link.
Here it is:
Stuart Neville
Sorry about making such a mess of the thread.
I'd like to nominate The Record Prophets by Matthew Seery. It's a story about a record company that decides to kill off its aging stars in order to cash in on the nostalgia. The Record Prophets
Hi, this is my first time nominating here, so I hope I'm doing this right.I'd like to nominate the excellent
Irène by
Pierre Lemaitre
I actually liked the 2nd book in the series - Alex - even better, but you should really read Irene first, and they're both fantastic reads.
Ethan wrote: "Trust No One by Paul Cleave"This is the Sept group read for the Mysteries & Crime Thrillers discussion group. The author Paul Cleave will also be answering questions from readers.
I'd like to nominate The Crossing Places by Elly Griffiths. This is the first book in an interesting series.

Have we had Chris Carver? If not I nominate The Crucifix Killer by him. He does the profiler bit very well. This is his first book.
I know that we've read a couple of hers as group reads, but given that 15th September marks her 125th birthday it would be rude not to nominate something by Agatha Christie. How about The Murder of Roger Ackroyd?

I'm sure it's a wonderful book, but self nominations aren't allowed a la rule # 2. Apologies, Matthew.

Wait for Signs: Twelve Longmire Stories A collection of short stories that does a decent job in presenting the western wit and sage wisdom w/mystical overtone flavor of Craig Johnson's work. The fourth season of Longmire will be out this month on Netflix. (However, as much as I enjoy the television series, I strongly recommend the books first.)

Not to worry, Matthew!
Not to worry, Matthew!
I'm going to have to withdraw my suggestion. I've got a busy work schedule lined up for the next couple of months and I may not have time to read and participate. Sorry.
I would like to nominate
CURSE OF THE KINGDOM: SECRET OF THE SEAL. This has a very thrilling and suspenseful story which is not clear till the end.
Martin wrote: "Id like to propose Misdirection by Martin Link"Sorry Martin, but Susan is correct. That is one of the rules we have, no self-nominations.
Sandra wrote: "Bill wrote: "Hey all! Nominations are now open for the September / October Group Read. You may nominate a book between now and September 10th. Voting will start the 11th and will run through the 14..."I'll check the bookshelf, Sandra. All the books we've read are there.

I've added it to the list, Malia. Just wondering if you need to read the first book in the series?
Malia wrote: "Interesting list. I loved the Elly Griffiths books, and am curious about Mark Edwards newest..."There does seem to be an excellent mix again.
I nominate
by Linwood Barclay. I've read two of his books and so far I've found them to very good mysteries.
Patricia wrote: "I nominate

I see the nom for Longmire short stories by Craig Johnson. I don't see any of the actual books in this series on the group bookshelf. I'd like to nominate The Cold Dish. I love this series and think they are best read in order. (pardon me if the group has read this before - I didn't see it on the bookshelf)
Thanks for the nomination, Suzy, but I'd have to say there should only be one nomination per author. Sorry about that. I have to agree, The Cold Dish is an excellent book.
Bill wrote: "Thanks for the nomination, Suzy, but I'd have to say there should only be one nomination per author. Sorry about that. I have to agree, The Cold Dish is an excellent book."Thanks, Bill. I thought that might be the case - will nominate one of Johnson's full length books in the future.

I set the poll up on Friday, Aniket. You can vote then. :)

-- the fine print. Please take the time to read:
Once again we need to post the general rules for Group Reads nominations:
1) Important: If your nomination wins, you will be asked to be the discussion moderator. Please do not nominate a book unless you're willing to do this. NOTE: If a book you've nominated in the past won and you did not participate in the discussion, we will NOT consider your nominations in the future. Sorry to be hardcore on this, but it's happened a few times now within the last year.
2) One (1) nomination only per person. Please read this next sentence carefully: Neither self-nominations by authors nor nominations by their respective publishers or publicist will be accepted. You don't have to second anybody else's nomination either.
3) Do not cheat or manipulate results. It is not acceptable to create fake accounts to nominate books or vote in polls and it is not acceptable to invite people to the site for the sole purpose of nominating a book or voting for a book in a poll. It is not acceptable to ask for votes or influence the poll in any way. If the moderators feel that a group read poll has been manipulated, the book in question will be disqualified. If the moderators feel that the user(s) are fake accounts, these will be reported to Goodreads for further review.
4) Please do not repeat an author we have read in the last year. Check out the group bookshelf https://www.goodreads.com/group/books... here if you're not sure.
5) For your nomination please include Title, Author and Link (Use the "add book/author" link at the top of the comment box).
6) Since we are an international group, please check to make sure the book is readily available in more than one format. The last thing we want is to nominate a book that no one can get.
7) Finally, a word about series - Please consider whether the book you are nominating would be best read by someone who has read all the previous books in the series, or if it can be enjoyed by someone new to the series too.
Have fun!
