WEEK 10 Option 1 #17. Award Winning Romance, Option 1

Book: Thoughtful by S.C. Stephens
Pages: 560 pages
Qualification: Reckless is on Goodreads Choice Awards ~Best Romance 2013
Read: 11/19
Rating & Review:★★.
I listened to this audiobook because I was told that it would change my perception of Kellan, from a snake in the grass, to a misunderstood nice guy. 21 hours and 15 minutes later, Kellan is still snake to me. Out of all the fruit in the garden, Kellan had to have the forbidden one, despite the warning he received.
Kellan’s “POV” starts with a history lesson of his relationship with his parents and how he became “mates” with Denny. I definitely felt bad for him for getting abused. Kellan’s parents were terrible people and were the root of his lack of sense of worth. It does not however excuse how easily he overlooked his band mates’ loyalty to him. It doesn’t excuse that almost from the beginning, he coveted what his mate Denny had with Keira. In Kellan’s frequent monologues, he whined about how he wanted someone to look at him like that, hold him like that, love him like that etc. So I would call that ENVY—coveting what someone else has.
I get the author’s message though, that Kellan was broken and lacked a sense of self-worth. He just wanted to wanted as a person and needed to matter to someone else. I just don’t see it as a viable reason for his actions. As far as the writing goes, this audibook was too long and most of it was a regurgitation of book 1. I applaud the author to tackling such an angst-filled and emotional topic, but I won’t be continuing with the series

Is it a race to finish?"
Yeah. The team who finishes first wins the challenge.

Goodnight, Mariana. I'm not sure when we'll be getting the theme call. *shrug*

This was a short sweet story. It was nice to read about how Kimi and Cal met and fell in love after reading about their children. I especially loved reading the letters they wrote to each other over the years.

I am truly addicted to this series now. I've gotten over the fact that, just like in this book, the Sullivans seem to fall in love in a week. I just love the family and am so happy that they get their HEAs.
This time hot shot professional baseball player Ryan Sullivan is the one to fall. His best friend from high school called him in a panic stating that she needed him to come "pretend" to be her boyfriend. And it just goes from there.
Ryan is happy to fill in since he's actually been in love with Vicki since they were kids and never forgave himself for missing the opportunity to be with her before she married some other guy. And wouldn't you know it, Vicki has secretly pined for Ryan who was every girl's fantasy in high school (and now) but she didn't think he would ever give her the time of day back then.
So, they find out about their feelings for each other and reconnect, and I just loved every gooey bit of it. Seeing the other Sullivans. Watching them rib, tease, and make predictions about the "next one to fall" is pretty entertaining.
I wasn't particularly happy about the art guy who was sexually harassing Vicki. It seemed over the top, but I'm not involved in the arts, so maybe that's how things go.
There's no way I can stop reading this series now. I'm just waiting for the perfect excuse to read Smith's book!

I really like this author. This was a friends to lovers story about two hockey players. I really loved Alexei and Mike, they were so sweet together. I would have loved to read more about them.

I reread this on 11/21/15, and I still enjoyed it as much as I did the first time. I had actually forgotten how Ty and Zane were at the beginning of the series. It was evident that they cared for one another but not to the extent as the series progressed on. This was a fun read, and I will continue rereading the series as time permits.

Alana is hard ass publicist. She made more enemies then friends. Someone is writing threatening letters. Chandler is a brother of Alana’s former client and bodyguard, which Alana hires to protect her.
Chandler has been lusting on Alana since the day he saw her.

This was a cute story. Jeremy was a rocker who just needed a time out from the public's expectations and Reggie was a bartender who wanted to see the world. Together they embarked on a mutually beneficial "fake" relationship while keeping each other entertained.
The narrator Charlie David did a good job keeping both of them different by giving Reggie a more masculine voice. I normally don't care for rocker romances, but I liked the slow progress of the relationship. I think I was expecting something more angsty and more sexy. It was just a good even tempo faux love turned real.

Yep, just confirmed, Jane is having trouble with her internet! Congrats!! I'll post it now in the Announcement Thread!

This was another revisit to Lucky Harbor. I love this small town. One of my favorite characters is Lucille. This series was about her granddaughter. I didn't like this one as much as some of the others, but it was a quick and easy read. Only one book left, and I will have finished the series - another one marked off!
