Creed finished 10/17/15
Rating *****
Review - Kristen Ashley done did it again :))) I loved, loved, loved it another kick ass heroine and a man willing to let her take charge and watch her back while she does it. A sighting of Hawk and his dimples what more can a girl ask for. I have the rest of this series but will keep it on my shelf for a while longer. I highly recommend any of KA's books and the friends you'll meet along the way.

Fairytale Retellings (Option #1)
Book:

Rating: ★★★
Review:
This is probably one of the most popular series here on GR, if you look at the ratings and listopia lists. While I don't rave about it, I do like it. I'd probably like it a lot more, if it was a little less YA - but to complain about about a YA series to be too YA is kind of shabby, isn't it? Book 2 is a solid, good Urban Fantasy story, I don't see why it belongs on the Fairytale lists except for some common mythology motifs, but I enjoyed it. It has plenty of good story ideas and is a quick (quick for a 400+ pages book) read - I might not love it as much as all its fans do, but I'll likely read book 3 as well.

i feel you.

4. Fairytales/myths retelling

Book: Darker Water by Lauren Stewart
Rating: ★★★
How it fits: #210 on The Best Fairytales and Retellings
365 pages (Paperback)
Review:
I'm not a fan of fairytale retellings but Darker Water sounded interesting enough for me to give it a try. It was nothing special, just usual contemporary book with some fleeting comments about frogs. There were some parts where the story dragged but otherwise it was quite decent and if it wasn't for dragging it would be 4 star read.

Review: I have to be in the right mood for KA's books because it really impacts my enjoyment of the book. Apparently, today, I was in a good mood because I liked Creed. The alpha maleness wasn't too over the top, the back story was typical of KA but I was okay with it. It was definitely hot as hell, that's for sure. I didn't like it towards the end when she does her normal let's fast forward in time 1000 times in one chapter but it was an enjoyable story.

Another excellent book by Nalini Singh. While I absolutely love her PNR series, I do enjoy this contemporary series. From the previous books that here was some history between Noah and Kit. The prolongs shows what happened, with chapter 1 starting two years later.
Noah has a bad past and that affects him in his daily life and how he treats Kit. We don't know until much later in the book what happened, but can guess that it was going to be something terrible.
Noah and Kit don't have an easy road to a HEA. They have their pasts and feeling to deal with along the way. I think how the book played out was better for not making it easy. I like them both and wanted them to find their way.
Nice to see the rest of the band. Looking forward to Abe's book next.

Book: Scent of a Mate by Milly Taiden

Review:
This book was such a mess that it was a torture to read it. I expected a quick and at least decent paranormal read but instead got a weird book where some of the things didn't even begin to make sense. A lot of things were left unanswered so I'll try the next book but with low expectations.

Hey no problem I was stalking some other teams to add to my TBR list.

Second Chances by Bria Marche

Review - This was one unbelievable story. Was going to give it 2* but after reading Gea's review I didn't feel so bad giving it * as it was just okay. I also expected a fast read but it was so not what I expected. I thought Brandon would turn out to be a good guy but he didn't. Everything fell into place too easily. Did not like. Sorry I tried.

Strikers
Rating: ★★★
Review:
A YA dystopian story: Karas lives in the Republic of Texas, where any crime committed, even the tiniest ones (like: smuggling - the economy seems to be a mess -, trying to leave this nightmare), gives you a strike, a tattooed mark on your neck. Five strikes and you're out, like out as in killed by the government with an injection. Karas lives with her mother, an alcoholic, her father is a striker with four strikes already, who is on the run and faces death, should he ever be found. One day she sees him among the latest batch of captured criminals. This is, when our story begins.
There is a lot of potential here - especially in the setting. But it left me with a lot of questions about the history of the republic or the system of "justice". How do they even have citizens left, if gaining strikes is as easy as implied? I'd have loved to explore more of the world building. The actual story was a fairly generic story about escape, well written, but nothing new to me. Karas is a likeable heroine, there is a vague romance subplot - all clearly aimed at a YA audience. I liked it overall, but the potential after a strong beginning remained mostly unused IMHO.

I started this series a few months ago. I got sucked right in by Ellie. Each book has it's own story within the bigger story. Of course some things in it had me saying "What was the author thinking?" but it's a rollercoaster. This isn't a book that should be read as a stand-a-lone. There is a lot of backstory and history in the the previous books that is pertinent to this one. Looking forward to finding out what is in store for Ellie, Camden, and Javier.

This is not my first go round with this author but I know her better as T.K. Ragan, a mystery suspense writer who has the power to break my heart into a million pieces. Ahem, anyway... This book was cute. Predictable and fluffy. It was a good palate cleanser after my last book which was dark and heavy. I don't think Romance is her strong point but I can't base that off one book. I would be interested to see how one of the characters is doing in the future and I wonder if she wrote anymore of the character's stories.

This is a retelling of Little Red Riding Hood. Red is a bounty hunter who isn't out hunting just the Big Bad Wolf. There is a variety of supernatural beings that she hunts. For a price. And she's good at her job. So good that after 300 hundred years she's still able to keep her anonymity. But...she has a secret. Kickass, sexy females: Red, Jade, Des to name a few. Badass, alpha males: Felix, Vince. And a story that has twists, turns, and on the edge of your seat plots. A debut novel that totally rocks it.
