Aaron James | 1 comments I will teach history at the high school level. I am considering adding more fictional young adult literature to my curriculum. Does anyone have book suggestions for a progressive history classroom? I am especially interested in books with multicultural characters."

♥ Rachel♥ (i_got_a_jar_of_dirt) What time period?

When my name was Keoko by Linda Sue Park is really good...it's during WWII in Korea, which was then occupied by Japan

♥ Rachel♥ (i_got_a_jar_of_dirt) Oh yeah, just so you know, When My Name Was Keoko is more like elementary school reading level...then again, they have kamikazes, so not sure how many elementary schoolers would be allowed to read that....

Bryan Craig Aaron, I just about finished Soul Catcher about a slave catcher falling in love with a runaway slave. It is really good, but it has adult situations and swearing, so you might need to take a close look to see if it can be in your classroom.
It is a fairly recent book and really well done.

Greg (greg_hollingsworth) | 6 comments Progressive history you say?

I would immediately suggest Founding Myths by Ray Raphael.

It's not fiction, but it is a highly engaging book.
