Kirk Allmond (whatzombiesfear) | 5 comments When I first started writing, I posted chapters to my blog (WhatZombiesFear dot com) as I wrote them. Straight from my brain to the page, no edits, no going back to make changes. That is, to this day, my favorite style of writing.
When the book is finished, I send it to my publisher, there are edits, artwork, packaging, promotional tours. Ultimately, a year later you can find that book on the shelf in your local Barnes and Noble or books a million, or the virtual shelves for Kindles, Nooks, Etc.
My newest publisher really frowned on the practice of giving my writing away for free, so I was forced to stop the practice.
I really missed that style of writing. The challenge of writing a serial, the fun of not quite knowing where it's going to go, and the interaction with my readers was really the reason I wrote.
So, about a month ago, I launched Hell on Rails. It's a true web serial, chapters posted about twice per week.

Here's the excerpt:
All he wanted was a little freedom. In a world of walled cities surrounded by hundreds of miles of infected wasteland, Nyko just wanted a change of scenery. After building a train capable of crossing the vast wasteland between the remnants of American cities, Nyko learned that the pustule laden corpses roaming no-man’s land weren’t the worst things out there. The trip from New Vegas to Phoneix was harrowing, but that was nothing compared to what he learned when he got there.

Hell on Rails follows Nyko and his band of post apocalyptic outlaws on a journey across hell on earth. And then things get worse.

I'd love it if you'd like to check it out. http://bit.ly/N6dRT3 (The link goes to whatzombiesfear.com/Hell-on-rails) I use bit.ly to better get a feel for where traffic is coming from.

I sincerely hope you'll check it out, read, enjoy, and comment. I often take reader comments to heart, and include suggestions in the story as it unfolds.

Thanks for reading,

Kirk
