Hey being that I have 2 people popping in here already. I'd love to know, being that these guys write things with such mystery, suspense and thrills, should I title this topic (spoilers) or should I create 2 topics? One with and one without?
Also, I am about to start the 3rd book in a 3 part Pendergast titles called Two Graves. The first is titled Fever Dream and the second is Cold Vengeance. Talk about hard to put down titles and ones that really make you think about the characters and you see them evolve quite a bit through out the story.
So I sent a note to Douglas Preston about seeing if and when he or Lincoln Child might like to pop in here. I think eventually we will have to do a monthly book read of one of their newer titles. I think if we could get almost 279 readers interested in their work and buying a few titles maybe they could talk Pendergast into taking some vacation time and visiting us :O)

(view spoiler)

I think I have all of their books, but I started the series with the third or fourth book, Still Life With Crows, and read at least five. I have read a couple of Doug Preston's solo novels and really enjoyed two of them. I hated the one called Tyranosaurus Canyon. That one left me cold. But that is the only one I didn't like. Not a bad record.
I discovered Preston and Child at my local library branch, as they always seem to have an overabundance of books on the bargain paperback shelf. The library offers small used paperbacks for twenty five cents, large paperbacks are a dollar and hard cover books are two dollars. Preston and Child books can always be found within at least one of these sections. When I began reading Pendergrast books, I had no knowledge of Relic. I had seen the movie at the theater and really enjoyed it, but I was not aware that the books I was reading featured some of the characters from The Relic. Kind of makes me want to revisit that movie. I can't really remember who was in it, except Penelope Ann Miller... I think. Was Alec Baldwin in that?
Anyway, I want to read The Relic, and irs sequel, and the rest of the series, but I have a long list of books on my currently reading shelf to get through. But maybe I will try and join in on the group read you are waiting for. What group is reading that one?

My copy of Fever Dream turned up yesterday so I'm going to start reading that in a couple of days. I've just got to clear a couple of books of my currently reading shelf first.

The film to The relic is very good but it is a different beast than the book for sure. So don't go into watching the movie after reading the book, expecting the book. I do look forward to hearing about how you like the book and the film. I am sure you will have some interesting feedback. As for Fever Dream, I know you will really enjoy it. The thing I love about these guys is, I get to learn things while reading their books as well. There is some German speaking in them and it was so cool checking out this Google translator thing to learn what these phrases mean and hear them spoken :o) And well I just really enjoy the FBI agent Pendergast so much.
