Can we all just agree that Kaltain was an awe inducing character in Queen of Shadows?
And who could have imagined that this would be her role after the first read of Throne of Glass.

RIGHT?!!??! I LOVED HER! I was so conflicted and torn about her fate but wow! She certainly made it count in the end!

I felt that it was the best (view spoiler)[way for her to go out, she was just too broken to continue (hide spoiler)].
Also she had (view spoiler)[ FIRE POWERS TOO?!? (hide spoiler)] Celaena and her could have been best friends :'(

OMG I know ! She sent something VERY special with a certain someone for Celaena as a way of making peace though....I can't wait!!

Was Kaltain's power that dark fire before she had the collar around her neck or do you think it was fore like Aelin's?

I think it was mentioned that hers was a slightly different kind of fire.

I think that perhaps she already had it,but kept it secret (much like Dorian), but Duke Perrington found out, thus took her away.
And when she got the oppurtunity she unleashed her magic.

I love how SJM handled Kaltain's character from how she was an antagonist in book one to how strong and powerful she became by book four. She was a character that I was always interested in reading about.

Yeah there's a line in QoS (in one of the sections that's in Kaltain's pov) where it says that she had magic before it vanished 10 years ago. The whole reason perrington sought her out in tog was bc he knew and wanted to take advantage of it.

I didn't care for her in TOG but man I loved her in QOS. I mean, wow. She surprised me.

She said that her fire was gold and after mixed with shadow. I think she had a power similar to Aelin's but in Morath with the Wyrdstone collar had developed in shadowfire

and for the scar in her arm. She gives something to Elide for Celeana. I think it's one of thw Wyrdkeys.

Just finished QOS! So good!!! But what did Kaltain's character do in the first book? I can't remember... She was awesome in this one though!

She was like, evil in the first one. Something to do with wanting to marry Dorian and wanting him all to herself and be queen or something.

This totally reminds me of Kaltain, except her power is black shadowfire.

I wonder how much was Kaltain in ToG and how much was Perrington's/Erawan's influence.

Yea Dawn, I never really thought about it. Did she wear a black ring? I remember her getting headaches but I don't remember her wearing a ring or anything. I just kind of assumed that a Valg took over her body when they brought her to Morath.

That's 'cause it is. Remember when she said somewhere in the last chapters that (view spoiler)[Perrington had called her "a living gate"? Because that's exactly what she was with the Wyrdkey inside her. But now it's with Elide who is on her way to find Aelin so if nothing goes wrong along the way Aelin will be having two out of the three Wyrdkeys in Book #5 and I'm so freaking excited...!!!!! ^.^ (hide spoiler)]

I wonder who Elide will meet on her way to Terrasen. Part of me wonders if she will meet Lorcan.

That is actually very possible!! Maybe she and Lochan would exchange a few words, but I hope he won't sense the otherworldly aura of the Wyrdkey with her and then steal it because that would just ruin everything and I'd be like

Risti, there are MANY scenes with Kaltain that are life-changing and VERY SPOILERY, so I would just trust in your heart and wait for those scenes without asking for spoilers, even minor ones. It'll be worth it!

Kaltain's magic is badass af. Shadowfire?! Freaking black fire that doesn't burn but makes you bleed out of your orifices, freaking amazing! In a morbid way.

It's interesting. Kaltain (view spoiler)[ had fire powers like Aelin, but prob wasn't as powerful (hide spoiler)] and her powers totally altered into something new and dangerous. I wonder if Aelin could summon the same power.

Towards the end, I finally began to appreciate Kaltain's actions despite her role in ToG

Oml in the beginning of the series I sorta hated her and thought she was a snob, but throughout I realized that she's lost, and alone, so she uses her snobishness as a kind of wall. (view spoiler)[ I'm sad she died because I know Aelin and her could have been great freinds, but I also know that Kaltain will be happier dead than she would ever be alive (view spoiler)[ (hide spoiler)] (hide spoiler)]
