Sebastien | 16 comments So Filipe, what do you think of Scalped and 100 bullets ?

message 55: by Filipe (new)

Filipe Alves (filipealves1973) | 4 comments 100 Bullets - I believe i gave it 4 stars to all the TPBs. I was amazed with the story (although i felt that i kind of lost "part of the touch" in some parts). And this series gives a perfect example in what i like in Vertigo / Dark Horse and Image - you have a start / middle and end in the series (most of the times). And the stories are STORIES - not just some random words to justify the drawings and violence in the pages.
Scalped - i just read the 2 first volumes (will have to start all over again), and although i liked it - these did not created a compelling event for me to finish it. But they are on my reading list.
Right now - Fables!!!

Hello, my name is Ian Goff. I read a wide variety of comics. Too much if you ask me :). I don't read comics that are below a 4.00 on this site. If you like those comics, great for you. That's just how I am. Some of my favorites are All-Star Superman, Batman by Scott Snyder Vol 1-5 and Vol 7, and Ultimate Comics Spider-Man (Miles Morales).

message 61: by Hrishi (new)

Hrishi (rooshi) Cheers for the invite Damon... I'm a mostly digital comic reader (for lack of print access) from India. I mostly read for the story and the art is a nice value add. I do tire of constant shenanigans so a lot of my favorites are more contained one shots, elseworlds, team ups and the like.

I read in thematic binges e.g. tearing through the Marvel Ultimate U a few years ago, reading all the major DC events from Crisis on Infinite Earths to Final Crisis, a Marvel 616 read-through from Avengers Disassembled to Secret Invasion more recently (need to pick that up again), a Marvel cosmic read from Annihilation to Thanos Imperative... and so on. Most recently I did a Superman degustation (All Star Superman, Red Son, and Kingdom Come).

I do make it a point to post a review when I read stuff, so look forward to discussions in this group!

Robert Wright (rhwright) | 2 comments Hi! I'm a comics fan for 40+ years. I've been active off and on in comics group here on Goodreads, reviewed quite a few graphic novels/collections, and I'm pretty frequent on the Back Issue FB group.

Margret Treiber (themargret) | 1 comments Hi, I'm Margret. I wrote a comic book like novel. I'm trying to plug it. Please pardon my hard-sale. Thank you for reading this. If I should not be posting this to this group, please feel free to nuke this.

Sleepytime for Captain Eris is a face-paced and fun read. This is not a book for children.

Sleepy Time for Captain Eris is an action-packed story of superheroes, artificial intelligence, and nefarious realtors. The attitudes are bad and the language is worse.

Captain Eris, AKA Death Engine, former military DNA tweak and mercenary is unexpectedly pulled out of her retirement in Champion Acres and dragged back into the shit by an idiot in a mech suit.

Feeling pissed off and miserable about losing her retirement lifestyle and subsequently, her chances of dying of old age; she searches for the reasons why she was reactivated. With the help of her old friend Al, an incognito artificial intelligence; and Om, a twenty-something emo tweak-girl, she discovers a plot that goes a lot deeper than losing her death. And in doing so, she finds a reason to survive.

The book is available on the following sites:

eHawk | 2 comments Greetings folks! I'm a comics fan through and through, always looking for the next great read. I cut my teeth as a kid on Thor, Uncanny Xmen and Dr. Strange (read my brothers' collection), and then went nuts over Vertigo when that all started up. Only in the last 2 years have I gone back to some Marvel titles. Lately I've been enjoying Giant Days, Vol. 3, Snotgirl, Vol. 2: California Screaming, and Black Science, Vol. 6: Forbidden Realms and Hidden Truths. Other reads I've enjoyed this year are Clean Room, Vol. 1: Immaculate Conception and Mythic, Volume 1
