Scott (sbe73) | 6 comments I'm hoping someone can help me with a query about ISBNs for a partwork series?

https://www.goodreads.com/series/1462...

With the exception of the first issue of this series ISBN 9772055766033, the rest of the series uses the ISBN 9772055766026 - which causes problems as the same ISBN now applies to the 17 books published so far. I have noticed that to the side of the ISBN-13 number and bar code there are an additional two digits that seem to correspond to the issue number in the series, e.g. book 17 has 17 to the side of the main ISBN number. Is there any way ISBNs of this nature can be added to data about the books on Goodreads? Thanks in advance.

How are they published, individually or as a single collection?

Scott (sbe73) | 6 comments They're individual.

How odd that they all share an ISBN then.

Only one (presumably the first one) can have the ISBN. But the others can have the ISBN added to the description field with an explanation.

Scott (sbe73) | 6 comments I think I know the answer as to why the ISBN is like this - it's because, even though these are hardback books they are still classified as a magazine/periodical

Scott (sbe73) | 6 comments Also the bar code seems to be an ISSN - which Goodreads doesn't seem to do, only ISBNs or ASINs.

Scott (sbe73) | 6 comments Also - I'm doubly sorry - as I see you have commented about ISSNs to other librarians, sorry to have wasted your time- I'd not come across them before. Thanks for your help.
