Awesome! Revelation Space definitely falls into the 'Hard Sci-fi' category so fair warning it can really pile on with the science, but it's a book bursting with ideas and is a really great read

Loved the whole Book of the New Sun, frustrations and all.

On re-readings, I decided to take Severian at his word and assume he's telling the truth as he knows it, and it makes a lot of sense that way.

By omission I think, but does he ever actually contradict himself? Or is it Wolfe's pretense of disorganization? And if he later gives added information, it might not be classified a lie.

Besides, he often shows himself in too poor a light for this to be about self-aggrandizement, so what would be his purpose in lying?

Gene Wolfe is known for his reliance (overuse?) of the "Unreliable narrator" technique. It's been quite some time since I read "Book of the New Sun" (and I was considerably younger!!), but maybe it's worth a re-read sometime soon....

Going to start Shadow Prowler now.

Finished Dreams of Shreds and Tatters, which was excellent in a disquieting way, and started Karen Memory by Elizabeth Bear.

Just finished Shaman's Crossing and now starting book 2 of the Soldier Son Trilogy; Forest Mage by Robin Hobb.

I thought the first book was a little slow, hoping the 2nd one is better.

One week left! Tomorrow the UK edition of The Traitor Baru Cormorant hits the shelves, and I'm very curious to see if the hype is justified.

I've recently read The Scarecrow King, a YA fairytale retelling; Captive Prince and sequel, fantasy M/M romance with an actual plot, a pleasant surprise; Sorcerer to the Crown, historical fantasy without praise or blame, I liked the brilliant prose, the humour, the lampoon secondary characters and its very British literature vibe.

Finished The Martian. Great read. That being said, I think without the humor, it would have probably been pretty boring.

Been reading The Dinosaur Lords. My impulse buy. One of my weaknesses is dragons, the other is dinosaurs :P

Wow, couldn't agree with you more. I finished it yesterday and gave it a 2 rating, will not read the third book.

I was surprised by that as I loved all of her other books/series.
