Angelina wrote: "Last book I read: Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me?" Mindy Kaling is a genius! Loved her book!

Ash (ashlhart) Fictional character you're secretly in love with: Sirius Black! It was devastating for me in Order of the Phoenix. DEVASTATING.

Angelina Hanson Woolf | 2 comments It was a fun, quick read...and I'm afraid her brain works similarly to mine.

Favorite Book (haha yeah, right... like I could pick one) / Favorite Genre: probably Sci/Fi-Fantasy... or Historical Fiction.
Last Book I Read: The Lemoncholy Life of Annie Aster by Scott Wilbanks
Fictional Character You're Secretly in Love With: Not a book character, but totally Agent Leroy Jethro Gibbs. #NCISforlife <3
Hogwarts House: Slytherin or Ravenclaw... sort of depends on the day. According to Pottermore, Ravenclaw.
Least Favorite Book: Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad or Lord of the Flies by William Golding. They were both required reading in high school and I just wasn't a fan of either book... at least I wasn't 10+ years ago.

I suppose I should actually introduce myself as well!

I'm Michelle. I love Disney, Nancy Drew, and Harry Potter. I am terrible at adulting, but my theater degree lets me at least fake it!

Hogwarts House: Ravenclaw

... oh... were we only supposed to pick one? haha #overacheiver #RavenclawKindOfDay

Alicia Auping | 4 comments The last book I read was Armada by Ernest Cline, and I loved it! (maybe even more than Ready Player One.) I had him sign it when he did an event at Alamo Drafthouse last month :) . I'm currently reading Who We Be: The Colorization of America by Jeff Chang, who I heard speak at a conference over the summer. It's super interesting.

So, obviously, I don't discriminate against genres--ha! I read pretty much everything. I also love comics.

My Hogwarts house is Hufflepuff. Sometimes I'll rep Gryffindor when I'm feel especially brave and honorable. But usually it's Hufflepuff. :)

Aaaand I loved Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me, too! I can't wait to read her next book when it comes out in a few weeks!!

message 10: by Ash (new)

Ash (ashlhart) Oooh Alicia I added both of those to my reading list! I love love love nonfiction - lately I've been on a random diseases and people-who-turned-to-farming-and-wrote-about-it kick. Its very random, like me!

My Hogwarts house is also Hufflepuff! #hufflepuffsunite

Alicia Auping | 4 comments Ashleigh, have you read Spillover: Animal Infections and the Next Human Pandemic by David Quammen? If you haven't, you should! It sounds like it would be right up your alley. I read it last year.

Alicia Auping | 4 comments How did that post twice?? Weird, lol.

message 14: by Ash (new)

Ash (ashlhart) I have not but I will add those to my list as well! I have quite a few different ones in my list but right now I am reading Around The World in 50 Years: My Adventure to Every Country on Earth. I'm only a little ways in but its pretty interesting - he wanted to highlight the places most people don't get to which is fun. Plus its all in the like 60s and 70s so far so everything is so different!

Lila (silvershiara) | 1 comments G'day to y'all!

My name is Lila. And I'm a bookaholic. I've been reading since I was in junior high. My main genres are fantasy- most of the different subgenres, manga which I picked up way back when, and just generally weird stuff every once in a while.
I guess I don't really have a favorite book, per se, because I love a lot of different authors and series.
I'm currently rereading Patricia Briggs' non-Mercy and non-Anna stuff- all her early fantasy duologies like Masques and Hob's Bargain. My to read library pile has the new Robin Hobb, Felicia Day's biography, and some Music from Muse for atmosphere.
Favorite Character... book crush... book couples mainly... Merit/Ethan- Chicagoland Vampires, Toby Daye/Tobias- Toby Daye series, Tohru Honda from Fruits Basket, Shaoran Li from Cardcaptor Sakura (or just about ANY character by Clamp- they're all so pretty!!!
Hogwarts House- no clue, but probably Hufflepuff or Ravenclaw
Least Favorite Book- Great Gatsby, Separate Peace, Breaking Dawn

message 16: by Diane (new)

Diane Hello! My name is Diane and I am very eclectic in my reading. The last book I read was The Getaway God. I am currently reading Crown of Midnightand I just Love Chaol. I work in a library so I am always surrounded by my first love...BOOKS. I have tried to read Moby-Dick; or, The Whale and I just can't make myself read it. I would have to say that is my most disliked book.

message 17: by Fatima (new)

Fatima | 1 comments Hi guys! I'm Fatima and I'm glad I found this group because I read almost anything and everything depending on the day.

Currently reading Haruki Murakami's 1Q84 (first time reading a Japanese novel...). My favorite book is The Bridges of Constantine by Ahlem Mostaghanemi. Secretly in love with every hero that Nalini Singh creates.
Totally a Harry Potter fan too!!! I'd like to think I belong to Ravenclaw but I'll probably end up in Hufflepuff:)
The least favorite book would be Fifty Shades of Grey by E.L. James (I didn't finish it, poor writing).

Have you read Hair of Fire yet? Actually, I should start a discussion about Throne of Glass because...so much to talk about...so much!

I think I like Rowan and what's up with the Ironteeth Witches? Anyway I guess all my questions will be answered by the end of this book or in QoS.

message 21: by Leo(nie) (new)

Leo(nie) (lemongreen_bird) The last book I read was the very confusing postmodern Ich werde hier sein im Sonnenschein und im Schatten which I suppose no one knows who doesn't study comparative literature in Germany.

The last book I read that was really GREAT was Anne Leckie's Ancillary Justice. If you are a science fiction fan (like me) I recommend dropping everything you do right now and read this book. It's awesome.

Welcome Leo! Science fiction is fantastic. Ancillary Justice looks great, thanks for the suggestion. I've already added it to my "want to read" list.
