I am so glad that this is our first book for September. I am half way through it now and am enjoying it a lot. (view spoiler)
So good to hear that from you two! :)
I haven't yet read anything Tessa Dare wrote that I didn't like! I'm still stuck with this current book I'm reading but I'm hurrying it up so I can get started on this!

@Andrea yeah I didn't like her Spindle Cove or the earlier books of this series....but loved this one.
Ok, I just started it this morning and I'm really enjoying it... and I can safely say that Castles Ever After is starting to become a favorite series!

Sorry you didn't like it! :(

Sorry to hear that you didn't like it too, but I'm really glad to hear that you liked this one! Have you read the first two books in this series?

I am at 30% and I love that it has a different theme than any historical book I have ever read. I am really liking it.
I finished it last night----------I loved what happened with Grant ------my kindle started messing up towards the end and it kind of spoiled the ending for me------it kept flipping back to the beginning of the book---I finally did get to finish it by using the location feature and guess what the location was-------but it made the reading real jumpy. I normally avoid Scottish books and was worried about it being our theme for the month, but this was a nice book. I don't like the cover at all---------I feel that both of the models were too young-------especially the male one.
Loved it! The characters were great and the premise of the book was quite different from anything I have read before. Plus it was hilarious!

So I just bought this from the kindle store seconds ago. Then when I was shelving it her in GR, I noticed that this book was published with Avon!Blech, Avon!

Can't help but ask; how come? :)

Do you find Avon books a little light on, Andrea? By that I mean not too much history and a fluffy story?
While I really enjoyed this one I did think it was quite a bit lighter than some of the historicals I've read lately, eg Meredith Duran, Courtney Milan.

This series, Castles Ever After, I think is indeed intended as such. I really like Tesse Dare's humor and wit. Her Spindle Cove series has an entirely different theme/mood.

Gaelen Foley is how come.I loved, loved, loved her Knight Miscellany series.
Then for her Inferno Club series she switched to Avon and I saw problems that I wouldn't have expected from her.
The first book had boo boos with the something (historical detail), an anachronistic heroine, and no period phrases/language etc.
These were not problems that I noticed in Knight series, so I blamed the new publisher.
I pre-ordered her book #1 for her new series that will be released next month and she's publishing it herself. I have hopes that she'll return to the things I liked so much.

I loved
for exactly that. Loved the dialogue between Minerva and Colin.
I loved the Knights Miscellany too. And I was so disappointed with the follow up Spice Trilogy which you did warn me about Andrea. It just had nothing of the brilliance or great characters of the Knights.Interesting she is self publishing.
. It's available on kindle 13 October. I'm going to get it. Thanks for the tip, Andrea.Maybe we could do it as a buddy read here..It's a Regency period.
I read the first books in both Spindle Cove and Castle Ever after and some other books of hers....but it just didn't do it for me....this one was brilliant....I loved the characters...her prose perfection...and I loved the writing style and humor in the book....but the hero was just MACdreamy lol
I really enjoyed this novel, like members have said above I liked the characters-loved their flaws, the humour, the storyline, the ending, it was a fairly uncomplicated read which is just fine and I absolutely adore the cover - I could just sit and look at cover for hours.I want to try and find time to read books 1 and 2 of Castles Ever After. I have read Tessa Dares books before my favourite being 'A Week To Be Wicked'

Wonderful! I'm very excited to see what GF does with the freedom of self-publishing!I mean freedom from publishers formulaic requirements for what they think a good HR should be!

I'm new to the group, so I'm starting this a bit late. Tessa Dare is one of my favorites, though, so I couldn't pass up one of hers that I haven't read yet. I'm loving it! Give me a funny historical, and I'm happy. :)
