Who's reading?"
I am! Getting started a couple of days late, but I can't resist a de Lint read-along. Downloading it to my Kindle right now to make it easier. I have the hard cover, but those seem so heavy to lug around these days.
I've been putting off writing this because I felt bad about it after Jalilah's post, but I couldn't get very far with this one. I think I'm going to call it: I just don't like de Lint's writing. I'm sorry for that, because so many people love and enjoy his books, so I know I'm missing out.
I just never seem to be able to care about his characters - they all sound the same to me, from book to book, and although I love the ideas behind his plots, without characters I care about, the books fall flat for me.
I hope the rest of you enjoyed this one. I think it's a really popular de Lint book, so there are clearly some treasures to be had if you're receptive to them.
