Let's talk about Zach. He's got some very strong points, and a few sticking points about him in this novel. Has anything shocked you? Dismayed you? Delighted you? Frustrated you? Tell us about it!

Chelsea Klepfer (chelseaklepfer) | 94 comments I'm about halfway through the book right now and I'd completely forgotten about the part where Savannah's nephew comes to stay with her. I thought Zach was pretty great taking this news and not running for the hills when he and Savannah were just starting out their relationship. Not many guys would do that. I also love how patient he is with Savannah, drawing her out of her "all men will ultimately betray you" mindset and showing her that there are still nice guys out there... especially in Eternity Springs. :)

I agree, Chelsea. There were lots of things that "humanized" Zach for me. One was when he had to go and confront Savannah to search their home for the stop sign, and then what followed when it was found behind the fridge. And then, when he finally had enough - when he got so hurt that he couldn't take it anymore -- that was a tough one. I was starting to wonder what it would take for him to come back around. My heart ached for both of them. That's how I define a perfect read...

Michelle | 34 comments I was also very impressed with the support Zach gave Chelsea when she was dealing with TJ. He was so rebellious and angry and she had such a hard time connecting. Plus Zach's support and belief in TJ's innocence.....quite a man.

I couldn't agree more! Zach is so strong, patient, and focused! Loved him sticking to his plans to bring Savannah around, and my heart broke for him when he decided he'd had enough! Great read!

Melinda M (researcher707) | 592 comments I finally got into reading Refection Point. About 3/4 of the way thru. I noticed how supportive Zach was and not demanding. The situation with TJ showed Zach at a strong point as understanding, supportive and patience.

Sounds like you're about where I am in the book Melinda and I absolutely agree. I just read the part where TJ defaces one of the Angel's Rest cottages and the patience Zach had for that kid and how he told TJ afterwards that he'd help him get in touch with his father with "no catch" was so sweet and just shows what a great guy Zach is.

Kay (kkfar) | 502 comments I am at half way point in book and did not remember how Zach pursued Savannah. For a man who did not want to commit, he was so very sweet, romantic and persistent in his pursuit of her. Loved that he could do what he had to do for someone he wanted and someone he believed in.

After reading through these comments today, I want to start the entire series over again...just saying...each of these stories shows the best of what people can be. Who doesn't love to read about that?

I'd just like to know - did anyone else get a little angry with Zach at any point in the story?? I did, and now I feel guilty. LOL.

I haven't gotten mad at him so far but I'm still about 3/4 of the way through so there's still a chance I will. LOL. I do think I tend to get frustrated with the characters in each novel towards the end of the book, usually because there's some big misunderstanding between them and I want to shake them both and yell "JUST TALK TO EACH OTHER!". But then a chapter or so later they finally take my advice, work out their issues and all is right with the world again. :)

You're so right, Chelsea! It was right near the end where Zach's stubbornness made me want to smack him upside the head...but, I also realize how deeply hurt he was, and how confused he must have been, so I knew I'd forgive him before the story was over. I just have to say -- the sheriff that lives a few doors down from me could learn a few things from Zach. The guy is sooooo rude. He's actually only a deputy...and I DO call him Barney Fife...although that's probably an insult to Barney....

I got really mad at Zachary because I thought he was especially cruel to Savannah in his condemnation of her. Savannah was mean but not as much as Zach. I know where they both were coming from and why they felt the way they did and what they wanted from each other. Unfortunately, until the festival those did not come together but thankfully it all worked out.

Have you noticed that most, not all because Colt was a sweetheart, the guys are real jerks at some point in each of the stories. The ladies have difficult moments due to their insecurities and yes some of the guys had insecurities too. But the guys, Grrrrrr!

Ha! KK, you made me laugh. The men have had some serious demons to wrestle for sure, and men and emotions don't classically mix very well, do they? That's exactly when I got mad at Zach. But I knew he'd redeem himself in the end.

☺️Very true Paula! They all redeem themselves, thank goodness, and they all do it very nicely. I love it when a man is open with their feelings and can actually communicate those feelings honestly, emotionally and romantically in some cases. So lacking in reality.

You made me laugh again. Nothing scares my husband more than when I say "I'd like to talk later..." Sometimes I do it just to see the look on his face. And he never seeks me out "later" to remind me if I forget. LOL.
